Ok so i know there are alot of threads out there about the Icons but i cant really find that much about the whips. im wondering how the sound quality of the two compare, and what is a better value. i tried looking at other brands but most of them are big and bulky and often expensive and i think if i was sking in them i would worry about breaking them, but if there are other ones out there that are worth checking out please let me know. + K for help

My roomies got Whips and Icon 2's and the Whips are way better. Better quality sound, not as loud though, lighter weight and they have silicon earpads that stick to your dome like glue.

gonna have to disagree on this one.

icons are probably the least likely to break in the skullcandy line. ive slammed on the side of my head while wearing icons and a hat and there is no damage whatsoever. they are the only pair of headphones by skullcandy that havent broken or had a speaker die within the first year of owning them. i have owned i think 7 pairs of skullcandy headphones/earbuds thanks to the warranty.

ive skied with the same icons for 2 years now and last year i rode with them on countless pow days were they would have snow alll over the speakers and they still work perfectly fine

The band that goes around your head on the whips is much smaller, and barley feels like its there under a helmet. The skullcandy's are much wider and are not very comfortable under a helmet IMO. but that won't matter if you don't wear a helmet.
I would go with the whips but be careful with them cuz they brake pretty easily.

if your looking for skullcandy buds.....

smokin' kill your ears if your wearing a helmet.

ink'd fit in your ear much better, however they are the cheapest and worst quality.

i go for ink'd mostly because i don't really mind quality of the sound comming out of my 'pod.

I wore them under my helmet a few ski days (what the guy at the store said there made for) and one day when i pulled my helmet off my head and there where cracked near the speaker. I just electrical taped it back together, i don't care how they look there comfy under my helmet and sound good.
So i would say a 7.5 but if your careful there not gunna break

this, i have them. the sound is way cleaner, but some people say the skullcandies have louder bass. regardless they sound good, and I have heard the are way more durable that icons

i don't think im going to buy any skully candy headphones again, i bought the icon 2, only legit thing was how you could skip to the next song and pause n shit with that button....pretty handy when skiing. But ive had a couple pairs of skull candys and they have all fucked up by the jack so it like only plays in one ear. I bought the whips and they seem to have better sound qaulity and louder, and the silicon ear pads are the shit. I havnt used them long enough to see if the cord by headphone jack does the same thing as the skull candys. I also bought the other nixon headphones....forget what they are called, but they have the volume control on the headphone, and the cord is like an aux cord that plugs into the headphones, which is awsome, cus then it doesnt tear out of your headphones.....just comes unplugged.........i hav't tried a pair of wesc....they seem kinda of legit..not sure.....but it would be sick if they did the aux cord thing with the whips and made a skip track button on the cord aswell.....those would be the best headphones ever made for skiing.

My first pair of Icons had cord troubles within 3 months of having em, i probably wouldnt have bought another pair if dog funk wasnt selling em for 5 $ (WHICH was a steal) and they screwed up and sent me 3 pairs for 10$ (OMFG). All of em have held up good so far. My freind has whips and they are sick. I think the Skull Candy's construction is better (Except the earpieces) , but the nixon's have supperior sound quality. For skiing, i care more about durability then quality so i will probably stay with my SC's unless all 3 have problems.
