Niseko 2014/15

So I am heading out to Niseko at the end of November for the ski season. Anyone else going out for the season? Would love to find some other people who are fans of shredding park and not just pow all the time. I've had friends who went to the season who said it got to the point where they wouldn't even bother skiing if there wasn't at least a foot of fresh... I'd like to have a little rail or a jump somewhere to session early season and when there hasn't been any fresh snow!

Either way its always cool to meet other newschoolers so hit me up if you want someone to shred with I always enjoy skiing with new people outside of teaching people how to ski!

Hey Man,

I'm heading over in December and would be keen to definitely pair up with someone in Niseko, as I'm also going to be doing a lot of skinning, back country skiing etc. I know most of the surrounding mountains pretty well and i'm definitely keen to shred more park.

PM me and hit me on facebook.

Cheers,

Sneakers.

Im also planning on heading over for the season with my girlfriend. What are you guys doing for accommodation. You working there or staying in a hostel or renting a room? Basically we need a place to stay and any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!

PCurran: I'm only going to be there for a month and a half, still a lot of time though.

PoachedGnar: Staying at Hirafu Backpackers. Cosy joint with all the necessary amenities and a really nice crew. They offer discounts if you stay for more then three weeks or something, I can't remember though. Look them up on Google, Nisse is the manager and she's a top chick.

Looking forward to meeting up with you guys and hopefully showing you around.

Cheers,

Sneakers.

I am there for the season as an instructor so will be staying in staff accommodation. As for advice I haven't been before but I hear the hirafu backpackers hostel is cheap enough but I'm not sure what it would be like to stay in for the season. I would much rather have a shared house than a hostel but that's just my opinion

I've worked in Niseko for the last 6 years, for good info on jobs and accom check out the Facebook group 'niseko winter staff 2014/15'. Pcurran, which school are you working for?

Anyone keen to go touring around back side of Niseko, other mountain ranges etc. Got a pretty good knowledge of the area, just need bigger crew.

Definitely keen to do some touring! Still need a beacon and probe but should hopefully have them by the start of the season.

Yup, count with us bro!

If any of you fancy venturing outside the bubble and checking out the rest of Hokkaido then give me a shout. I live between Sapporo and Asahikawa and ski the Sapporo ski areas, central Hokkaido and the odd trip up to the big mountains in Daisetsuzan.

Not long to go, its starting to get cooler here. I can almost feel winter on its way!

We've got 3 weeks for exploring. The more remote places the better. Keep in touch!

Movin to Kutchan and working For Niseko Adventure Centre as a ski instructor/backup cat skiing guide.

I am about to pull the trigger on some cheap ass flights to Sapporo in late Feb, but Chinese New Year is fucking up accommodations in Niseko it seems. Most hostels are already booked out. Anywhere up in Hokkaido that trumps Niseko?? Epic pow is obviously what I'm after... if I wanted to sit in the park, I'd just stay in CO.

There's nowhere as convenient as Niseko in terms of access to the hill from accomodation. But for snow, there are a number of places that are as good or better than Niseko, it just depends on where the snow is hitting on any particular day.

You may be able to find accomodation at Rusutsu if Niseko is all booked out. You could stay in Sapporo and hit Kokusai and Teine. Or stay in Otaru and hit Kiroro. Or you could travel north and stay in Asahikawa and hit Asahidake and Kamui.Or you could hire a car and travel around abit and hit all of those spots.

None of them are as big as Niseko, but they'll be less crowded (especially at Chinese New Year!)

Going to be in Rusutsu all winter instructing. Hit me up for shredding. Will also have a touring set up and super keen to go skinning! Bring on the powpowpowpow!
