Ninthward De Comte Pros (**WARNING**, another what ski thread)

alright so basically, i'm looking into skis to buy for next year.

I have had my eyes on these skis for a while (182s).

i'd just like to know how poppy/playful they are, if they're stiff or soft and buttery, how they handle jumps and rails etc.

I'm an advanced skier, and i feel that im pretty good at park for this being my first year.

I am 6' 1" 170lbs. i am probably spending 75% in park, 25% on the rest of the mountain. i'm 60%jumps/40% rails. lastly, would this ski fit what i'm looking for?

thanks a lot NS +k for helpful responses as always

I got mine in january. At first they were very stiff but after a few days they softened up a bit. They are a very popy ski. extremely stable at high speeds and very stable on big impacts. only issue i gave with them is that i already have several edge cracks underfoot. However, I ski 90% rails 10% jumps.

Been riding them for the past 3 seasons. Awesome ski for park, pretty good for all mtn. They are fairly skinny for any soft days you may run into...kind of a trade off, but you dont need the extra weight / width in park anyways. Only park ski I've had last more than a season with no edge blowouts. Edge cracks are inevitable, but among Volkl, Salomon, Rossignol, Dynastar, etc.....my Le Comte's have survived intact. I haven't had the most recent ones, as mine are 2 seasons old or so, but hopefully they improved the weak topsheet problem. From all mtn skiing to the biggest of jumps, I have never been dissatisfied. I ride mine centered with FKS 155s.

Ninth deserves no praise or support from any members who use this forum, enjoy the work of professional ski photographers, or just plain despise bad business practices. The guys who run Ninthward make the executives at Wallmart, Chevron, Comcast, Facebook and Google look like saints.

I am sure the many people in the ski industry who have been robbed by Ninthward give a shit. Or the hundreds of consumers who have bought skis only to wait over a year to get them, or just not get the skis at all; they give a shit.

Sorry I misinterpreted your post.
I thought you just meant that they are bad people, like crackheads or pervs (see American Apparel), but yeah, if they are negatively affecting the ski industry by robbing skiers then I, too, give a shit.

Well that too...

But ya. Nine is run by bad people, who are also dumb. Nothing like shooting yourself while cleaning a loaded gun.

thanks everyone. and to the two ripping on ninthward above, them and NS are cool now. but thats besides the point of this thread, i just wanna know how these skis would suit me

wow, someone has a haterade parade they want to keep charging on.

as for the past always being around, well guess I should never buy line skis cause they used to delam if you looked at them wrong? Things change .....its called TIME. I hope people hold you responsible for mistakes you made in your life till your deathbed.

I dont bother listening to hearsay, I base my opinions on my own experiences, which are the complete opposite of what the above haters are saying.

I shred 140+ days a season on these and they hold up like champs. Highly recommended.

I've had mine for a year now and for skis that cost me $250 they're very impressive. They're pretty stiff and very stable on backseat landings, and the edge control is really good. I've gotten one minor edge crack underfoot and a bit of topsheet is peeling off but other than that they've been holding up pretty nice.

Im curious and also somewhat new to this site, can someone please tell me what happened with ninthward in the past?

Ninthward: stole from newschoolers.com, a few professional photographers, failed to ship their skis to people and shops who ordered skis from Ninthward, then told people to fuck off when they asked for their money back. among other things.

are any of these issues still outstanding?

i am aware that ninthward and newschoolers have buried the hatchet, but what about the other guys?

how come its always omp3 ski guys that talk all kinds of shit? That company needs to go away then commando will vanish as well. I hope...

i havent ridden any but i have a couple friends who are really stoked on their 9s. they say they are really light, poppy and on the stiffer side
