Nikon vs. canon

I don't think either brand is superior to the other, it's more about what is more intuitive and feels better to you.

I think cannon doens't have the lead anymore. They had the lead on Digital because they had a full frame sensor first. Canon lenses aren't great. Bodies are so so and don't have tecnology cannon does. Nikon lenses are the best you can get and they don't have a huge selection of proffesinal cameras but they are great for semi pro cameras and the new D800 is AWESOME

You're going to get great quality out of either one. More than anything it's a matter of personal preference I started off using canon products and never had any problems, so i'm going to stick with them. I've used Nikon's D300 quite a bit and it's a great camera, but so is Canon's 40D. When it comes down to it, most people don't even use all the features that many of these cameras offer so unless you have specific needs, the framing, lighting, ect will make a much bigger difference than the camera itself.

Nikon is usually playing catch up, and right now there ahead with the d300 and the d3 (5d mark II beat the d700) i haven't payed much attention to the 50d but depending on your needs its just as good as the d300, but any way within the next 6 months canon is going to be on top again.

I agree. I am a working pro photographer as well. I personally use canon the only reason i went with canon 8 years ago was that the two film cameras i was looking at the canon had a faster FPS haha. I have shot nikons and canons top of the line film and digital cameras and honestly they to me are the same thing its just a tool.

ok junior, and yet you may another "useless post" by commenting on what I wrote... I love how cycle come full circle.

you mean the married guy who has been shooting for 12 years and has a son?so according to your post he has been shooting since the age of 2 and at some point had a sex change and a son

First off...

the guy who is talking about the "d800" is dumb.

he probably means the D700

and probably doesn't know why he would buy a 700 over a 300

or vis versa.

Canon doesn't have a camera that does video... NIKON does.

there really is no superior it's impossible in this market for one company to be making a camera that is THAAAT much better than everone elses.

How about sony...

the Alpha 900 has a 24 mega pixel sensor.....

first the 5d mark II has video and its better but he said that already

and .5% of photogs need 24 mp's and if you were a pro it would be dumb to use any thing other then canon nikon or hassleblad, why because of the avalabilty/ quality of lenses and because of the avlabilty of renting lenses.

so you know nothing of photography

now go take a seat over there

the d700 and d3's low light performance is just so great, it's hard to compete. their fx sensors rule

my verdict:

if photography's going to be a longtime thing go for nikon they'll be ahead in technology in the long run

if you just want something cheap and you won't be needing too much in the future go canon

Well, I just got the new EOS 5D. It is the best camera I've ever tried! Not just does it take stunning pictures, you can film in full HD. It's sick!

I've had Nikon once, but I personally like canon better. It's just the feeling.
