NIKON OR CANON?

What camera do you think is better for taking some sick nasty pictures?

Also what one would come with a better lence

First of all, there's been at least 150 topics on this on Newschoolers alone, let alone the entire internet.

Second of all it's lens (sometimes spelled lense), but never lence.

Third of all it's WHICH one.

That being said it doesn't matter jack shit. Either can take beautiful pictures with the right glass and gear is only about 15% of a good picture.

My personal preference goes out to Canon but that's just because I'm now accustomed to it and I don't like the handling from Nikon's. Same way around for other people.

Nikons are better for photo.

Canon are better for video.

Nikons have photo advantages, they perform better in low light (higher iso, less noise), I personally prefer the Nikon menus, and the glass seems cheaper.

That's a pretty bold statement there considering the new Canon 1D-x is supposed to be the most well performing DSLR ever made in low light conditions going up to ISO 52,000 on a full frame sensor hahaha. Of course that goes without saying that a 5D II will out perform a D70 in low light etc., it's obviously an extreme example but you get what I mean. You made a very large generalization there, and it's not relevant at all. Also I think it's the other way around for glass prices too. I just looked on B&H quickly and the 24-70 2.8 is $500 cheaper from Canon but didn't care to put in more research than that.

All in all they both make incredible camera equipment and you can go either way as long as you're not getting into super telephoto or anything (which I highly doubt from the OP) because Canon has a much better range of lenses up there. It's all preference, hold them in your hands and go with ergonomics is what I would say.

my two cents.

It is a very bold statement but I think he is referring to the lower end DLSR in the pricepoint that most people in NS can afford. That being said I pretty much agree with him, but only on the lower to mid model stuff.

Here are some tests. Obviously I don't have any of my own (I can't afford such nice cameras) so all info is based off of other tests.

OP I suggest using that YT Channel if you're comparing specific models, very good reviews/comparisons, the accent is annoying, but the reviewer is well educated.

As far as glass goes, it's probably going to be based off of what you're looking for.

neither is better then the other, it all comes down to your skill, glass, and editing

that being said, i prefer canon personally

i would agree, its all personal prefernce, they both make great cameras

i prefer canon as well, my dad has a canon, i got a t2i this summer, and i love it, also the canon lenses are great as well!

I personally am a Canon guy. I will agree that the Canon 1Dx is by far the best Camera made(to date)! With that being said I can't wait for Nikon's response to that camera. Canon vs Nikon = Ford vs Chevy.

You should first investigate and budget which lenses you will buy and use. Nikkor lenses are significantly more expensive than Canon lenses. You might also consider third party lenses.

If you are sticking to the kit lens, the Nikon kit lenses are significantly better than the Canon ones.

Genarally, depending on the model, Nikons have a better dynamic range and better high ISO performance (low light), which is where the "Nikon is better for photo" comes from.

You should also go to a shop and try both Nikon and Canon cameras. They behave very differently: menu system, buttons, feel. Ergonomics are more relevant than you think, and people have different preferences.
