Hey NS,

So with college coming up and bills to pay, I must say goodbye to my 80-200mm telephoto. This is a great lens in very good condition.

Here is a great article if you want to read up on the lens:

Pics are in my profile!

Offer up guys, this is a great lens!

AF-D is the version I have, also the one pictured in the link from Kenny you included OP.

They are both incredible lenses, IMO render a more appealing image than the new lenses for sure.

AF-D is heavy as shit, more stout and not as long. It's slower focusing because the entire front element moves in and out when it focuses, which can lead to more dust in the lens, etc. However I put a filter on mine and haven't had issues.

The AF-S is a newer version, internally focusing, lighter. a VERY small amount of them were blems when they were first made, some issues on one of the internal elements. They are very sought after. I think they flare less.

Both are built like a fucking tank. Straight metal. Honestly, you could use them as batons and crack some skulls if you wanted to.

I am guessing that the price will be out of my range, but just wondering.

what are you thinking for a price?

The AF-D does not have the same ghosting problem, but it does produce a flare. I would rather have the flare than the ghosting, however.

Also, the grinding defects he talks about apparently never were an issue, and never effected the image quality. the haze is what you have to watch for.

Dude I would love to offer up but all my money is going to dukes or guardians. Bump and good luck!

Honestly, I want it, because the focus on mine is broken; won't MF. but I can't afford it right now.

This is really an awesome lens though. I hope someone buys it. You could literally beat off attacking wildlife with it, wielding it as a bludgeon, and it would continue to work after.

except maybe the MF, apparently?

I ended up buying one used at a local shop for 725. Couldn't be happier, such a nice lens
