Nikon N90/N80/N75 vs. Canon Elan 7...

I have been researching these cameras for quite a while now and I'd just like to know, if any of you have one of these, what do you like/dislike about it? I'm a fairly experienced photographer and can easily use every feature with good results, so I'm trying to get the most for my money (semi-tight budget). These are all basically within the same price range used so I'm kinda stuck on which to get. any opinions?

Look at what lenses you can get within your budget, then spend the rest on a body to match, not the other way around. Canon bodies are no 'better' than Nikon.

 
if you go with a nikon go with the n80 or n90, i have an elan 7 but have used an n90(and n90s) a few times. eather way you go just rember that you will have to stick with eather brand b/c once you start geting good glass it will only work on on or the other. personaly i like the way the elan 7 fits in my hand and the contros more, but thats most likly b/c its my camera, eather way they are all good cameras.

 
alright, i figured i should probably get whatever lenses i could first, but i wasn't sure. i'm kind of leaning towards the elan 7 because of (but not only because of) it's ability to fire at 4fps. the N80 (i believe) can only do 2.5. this is a plus for me because i am interested in shooting good sequences, and with my current camera (my dad's 25+ year old Pentax K mount system) the power winder only spins it at approx. 1.5 to 2. so, obviously 'real' sequences aren't possible. that's not the only reason though, from what i've seen, the Elan 7/7E looks like a more 'professional' camera. the controls look like they're placed better.

 
ya i have the N90s i love it.. only problems i have are:

slow motor drive

motor drive slows and is inconsistent when cold

no double exposure button or easy way to do it

i wish i got the f100 but now im saving for the D2x

i have also used the f100. my elan 7 has no problms so far witht the moter drive in the cold. but if i were you i would be more focused on the glass, that will effect you pictures far more the then body.

 
I have the elan 7e....i really like it, nothing to complain about yet, only that i still have yet to get the hang of the eye control feature.

does the eye control feature actually work like advertised? the canon website says you only have to look at a subject (anywhere in the frame) and it will pick the nearest sensor and focus on it. that seems a bit far fetched to me. if it's actually how it works that's awesome, but i'm kinda skeptical about the actual use of this feature. it seems like it would take more time and practice than just turning the focus ring slightly.

 
get a canon A2 - can get them cheap on ebay. has 5fps and 3.5fps, multiple exposures and ass that other shit.

i use nikon n80. i like it. thats all i can say.

I have a 7N and its good enough for me. I don't think any of you guys here should really judge a camera from another. I mean you can but what good is it gonna do? You take the pics not the camera. You set up the exposure and composition. Those settings are all the same in cameras. The math is all the same in timing the speed of the camera. When you say things like the Canon focuses faster than the Nikon or the price of lenses for this brand are cheaper than this brand are helpful. A little. Just go with your instinct I guess. There are plenty of good camera brands out there. Nikon and Canon are the top in the industry. Canon has their L lens series and Nikon has their ED series lenses. Flip a coin.

 
i have an n80,

its a pretty good camera,

but the body isnt as well constructed as a f100

they are very similar though besides that,

but thats a pretty big difference
