Cool and all, but not for 99% of the people on NS I'd say haha. Stoked to see what images come out of this camera though. + to really get good use out of this, wouldn't you need to mount it to a telescope?
 
I have a friend who has the Canon 60Da that was made for this use.

I mean, I guess if you're a pro astrophotographer it's cool, but it's definitely not for everyone.
 
I guess if you shit 100's this thing would be nice to splurge on but I feel like 99.87% of people who are gonna get it are huge gear hoes. Besides, why can't you just convert your camera if you want it to be that sensitive to IR? I guess with IR conversions it just moves the range, maybe this has the normal visible light + extended into IR? If

If were Nikon I would release this as one of their special imaging products not in their regular lineup, but it's dope nonetheless.

The people who do it are usually retirees doing it as their own thing. These are the folks who get excited about globular clusters and newly found stars within the Orion spur.

Additionally, when you spend this much money on a rig this elaborate, 4 grand isn't really all that bad, anyway.

There are companies out there who do the conversion and offer a warranty on their work. Might not be factory, but it's still something.
