Nikon D60 or Canon 30D

I want to buy my first DSLR camera and I'm hesitating between the Nikon D60 and the Canon 30D. Any suggestions as to which camera to buy?

the canon 30D i'm looking at is used and comes with the standard 18-55mm lens 499$

the Nikon D60 i'm looking at comes with the standard lens and 2 8gb memory cards for 450$

Help!

I'd suggest the Canon. I work part time in a Photo studio and the owner

uses Canon exclusively. I was second shooter at a wedding and actually used a

Canon 30D and liked it alot. On the other hand ive never shot with a Nikon so I guess I'm probably biased

I use nikons exclusively for the main reason that I just prefer them. The layout, feel and overall picture I can get with them. I also prefer the lenses. I shot with a film crew the other day that used canon dslrs but nikon lenses only. It was great because he had lenses I couldn't even begin to fathom affording that I could use all day.

Go to a store and try them both out. See what you like and make your decision from there.

good point.. id deffinily prefer the d3000...

hell, i prefer my d40 over the d60... i have a bunch of friends who have the d40 and im pretty sure i can get a lot better pictures then any of them

i'm partial to canon but go to a shop and try them out in your hands and see what you like better, some people prefer nikon, others canon, but they're very different so you will like one over the other

also consider a 40d instead of a 30d. the 40d is a MUCH better camera for not that much more money and it's way more bang for your buck...i highly recommend you spend a little extra because once you have a 40d, the only upgrade you'll think of doing is to a full frame body whereas with a 30d you'll constantly be contemplating switching to a 40d
