Nikon D300

what does everyone think of the new nikon d300? im giving my mom my d200 and getting in when its released in november.
 
Inexcusably expensive. A great camera, but you don't gain much on the 40D which will be $500 less.
 
i have a d200, i got it in feb. my mom owns the d70 and is upgrading and giving my dad her camera. so i suggested giving her my new camera and her buying me the d300 when it comes out. and well she was cool with the idea. she was jsut going to get the d80 but now shes getting a nicer camera too
 
the d40 is like $600 to $800 depending on the lens, i dont know how much the d40x will be though, which is the same megs as the d200 but its not nearly as fast. the d80 is about a grand, the d200 is 1600 and the d300 is 1800. there is a huge difference between the d40 and the d300.. u should probably read more before u buy ur cameras.

As I'm sure you'll notice, I typed "40D" not "D40". The 40D is the successor to the 30D which are both manufactured by Canon.
 
but she's on nikon why the hell she switch to the 40D that would be so much expensive to buy all new lens for canon mount
 
I wasn't suggesting a switch, but shedding light on the fact that it's "Inexcusably expensive. A great camera, but you don't gain much on the 40D which will be $500 less." Whenever Canon has upgraded a camera the price stays about the same and the old versions drops in price.

If there was no 40D there wouldn't be anything to compare the D300 to in the market.

She was asking what we thought and that's what I think.

 
well i have 10 lenses, a nikon n60, n2000 and a d200 why would i go canon.. i dont think canon can even compare to the nikon.
 
Did you read the previous post that said "I WASN'T suggesting a switch"?

Everyone is so sore that I've pointed out a flaw in the D300 which is price point. I also said it was a great camera for all the Nikon users out there. When you ask for opinions you should praise those who have both + and -.

As for xnick...How could type something so silly. I understand having a die hard love for a particular brand, but to say that it will always be better takes consumer intelligence out of the equation and allows companies to set their price point higher than necessary.

yea i wish my mommy and daddy bought me everything i wanted too.. to bad its MY money that is paying for my camera and paid for my camera im giving to my mom. good try though.
 
Thanks for the info dude, but. Company's will always set their price to whatever they think it should be. You only get what you pay for.
 
i have some money. thank u grandpa. its not my parents money. i am actually paying my parents morgage right now. so before u kids think my mom and dad buy me whatever i want. i buy whatever i want, BC ITS MY MONEY!!
