Nike to make skis?

it may seem a bit out there but try to cheer up. you are the kind of people bringing thios site down.
 
dude tennis raquets were a terrible example, head, fischer, and volkl make them.

i'm against nike skis becasue they are not a ski company. They are a fucking track shoe company. but we also have to look at it the other way, k2 is involved in inline skates, and than there is my tennis example above. It could be possible that we don't want to see the demise of our sport because of a product whos roots are foreign.
 
lacrosse is pimp! they make sick lacrosse cleats. but i personally rock warrior speed burn mids.

anyway if nike made some i would check them out, but i have a no sweat shop polissy when it comes to sports equiptment, so i might have to see where there made but the idea sounds super dope!
 
Adidas owned salomon for a period of time (or maybe they still do, idk).

No one was complaining when the 1080's and pocket rockets spawned mainstream freestyle skiing.
 
i kinda hope they dont make skis, i like skiing where it is and i feel liek nike would comercialize it to much
 
i know that nike was trying to buy out a certain core ski company that starts with an 'N'. I would say the name, but i'd hate to have this whole thread deleted because of my carelessness. long story short, the 'N' word didn't sell out.
 
I'm trying to picture a group of core "fuck nike" golfers with long hair and baggy clothes...or some disgruntled b-ballers speaking out against what nike has done to the soul of basketball.
 
mmmm ya if i bought those even if they were sick id feel like I was betraying my skiing bretheren and those who came before me. i mean nike skis? whats next adidas? reebok? Ford??
 
why wouldnt you believe it, nike makes everything.

shit, i wouldnt be surprised to see nike.... lawnmowers, mattresses, tvs, computers, guns, bikes, water and oxygen.... and the list goes on and on.

(just look around, in a few years everything in your room could be covered in swishes imagine that)
 
i hate nike now, they should just stay in their area of the sporting world, and out of ours. i mean snowboard companise making skis is ok. but nike? are you kidding? i would never ski on nikes.
 
I love nike and all but idk if id like them that much for skiing. It seems like nike is all about fitness and their stuff should be sold at like a sports authority or dick's sporting goods and not so much a true ski shop. I just feel their skis would end up on the shelves at tj maxx along with those snowboards. They just dont have that skiing feel ya know?
 
nike making twin tips would be awsome because they have so much money to invest and could advertise twin tips so much more than armada or other ski companies

And how is Nike a poser company? They were one of the first sneaker companies. They're an original.

More money into the sport means more ... everything good. Maybe a little bad, but nothing underground ever last. Oh and in case you didn't notice ... New School Skiing isn't underground anymore. Maybe that discussion had substance 10 years ago, but it no longer does. The sport still will be limited to people with access to snow and hills. And maybe if it was more popular, Bridger Bowl would finally get a fucking park so I can participate in it.
 
Lacrosse is more down Nikes alley. Can any of you actually imagine nike skis though? They would be so generic looking like those Quechua skis at Decathlons. They would look all techy and not that much research would go into them.
 
Nike had a prototype snowboard several years back. And I also forgot to point out in my previous post that it is Adidas-Salomon ... so yeah Adidas does make skis.

thats what i meant. I meant that at first their skis would be crap just to test the waters. but think about what the topsheet would look like. They would be all techy and stuff and not steezy. They would have that wicked thick clear toplayer over them. And worst of all, they would have the swoosh logo all over htem. It just doenst feel like skiing.
 
skis? naw....if they made boots....now those i would buy. Nike ski boots made like Air Force ones.....soo sick.
 
Actually maybe if nike buys a smaller company like 4frnt or something then theyll be sick. Maybe make a new subcompany like jordan or something. I just cant think of seeing skis with swooshes on them.
 
guaranteed half you kids that are shouting "fuck nike" left and right rock air force ones with your tall tees and pants around your ass. so shut up and stop trying to be so "core." while i don't agree with nike's corporate policies (specifically where and how they get their labor), i am 100% confident that with the money they have, their R&D could dramatically change the standard in ski manufacturing. whether it is more resistant edges or some other technology none of us could ever dream up, i don't see how you can argue that nike would be bad for skiing.

nike would be a baller company if they even would make skis. All you fags hate way too much, its all bout expanding this sport and getting more money and shit into it.
 
it's odd that hundreds of people were at SIA and only one person thought it notable that Nike was making skis.
 
which is entirely why they should stay the crap away from our industry.

rome and a few other SB companies are using brass bronze edges, its supposed to result in smoother slides and less cracks. its still plenty hard, but much less brittle.
 
I am not a fan of Nike making skis just because of the fact that from my personal experience nike does not make quality products. I have tried their running shoes, and soccer cleats and they always fall apart or do not last as long as other companys that specialize in that sport. So I think that if nike makes skis in the future, they will have terrible durability.
 
i think you dont know what youre talking about. Nike rides on the fact that they make quality stuff. The thing i have against nike making skis is how stupid that name would sound. They would be the msot gaperish skis ever. I would only like it if they made a sick sub company or bought a smaller company and pumped money into it.
 
I like how every little kids here say they will not buy any skis that Nike might actually make.

But if Nike slaps a nice graphic on their skis, all the little boys and girls mentionned previously will be all over them...
 
backfliptime, i thought it was plain to see that i was talking about alternative sports with my use of the word POSER... team sports are a different story, and something that this discussion isnt about... its about nike making SKIS and there involvment in action sports in general. and YES. Sammy C is, if not a poser, a sellout peice of shit who should have a swoosh tattooed across his jugular for taking the soul of NEWSCHOOL skiing and branding it with such a ruthless clusterfuck of a corporation.
