Nike is now making ski boots (or at least having another company put the swoosh on them for Nike)

im deffinaty thinking nike boot if u look closely at the edit when we rides by laying back the boot has shoe laces and buckles
 
Theres new info, someones actually wearing the prototype not just the Nordics with stickers or a prototype pic.

So fuckhead it actually is "new or groundbreaking" because you can see them in use, go find another way to up your post count.
 
Its not like they have some of the best skiers in the world on their team..? You have to admit nike ski boots would look ill
 
Nike usually innovates the best equipment in each sport because they are a monopoly. It might suck for other companies, but it will only benefit skiers by bringing more equipment choice.
 
That looks like a shoe. Judging by looks, I have no idea how you could have any control of your skis when skiing because the boot is so soft and unsupportive.
 
Could be similar to the older spk pros where theres a harder shell under a leatherish outer layer?
 
That boot is just a photoshopped snowboard boot for all the people talking about how it would or wouldn't work. My roommates dad works designing for nike snow and i had him confirm that nike is not making ski boots. What sammy c has on are made by another company and then he stuck nike branding on them

if nike starts making ski boots they will be the new full tilts. kids will be killing each other for carlson 1's!!
 
Sir. Im not talking about price gouging and Rockefeller and shit. Im just saying that you cant go anywhere and not see a fuck ton of people wearing nike shit. I get how it would he innovative, but how would they be better than fu tilts, spks, nordicas? I just dont see how
 
Thank fucking christ. The last thing we need is the equivalent of Jordans in ski boots. I hate all of you fuckers that cream over a new pair of shoes just because they are Jordans or Nike
 
A MONOPOLY IS WHEN ONE COMPANY OWNS THE ENTIRE MARKET.

For example if you can only get your gas or cable from one company they have a monopoly it is in no way related at all to the ski boot industry.

They wouldn't be better of worse then full tilts or spks because people have different feet sizes as well as needs from their boots. However nike's production capabilities should allow them to produce boots at a lower cost then most of the competition causing supply to shift right. Demand for ski boots should stay the same because people don't care how they are made but the shift in supply will move the equilibrium price of boots down.

Therefore if Nike entered the ski boot market they could produce boots of the same quality as full tilt and spk, possibly at lower price that would benefit us; the consumer.
 
Eh realistically no. Nike doesn't produce anything close to boots so it's a big leap for them, and they wouldn't produce any more than say Lange or Nordica or salomon already do.

Fair enough I have no idea where spks or full tilts are made so I can't speak to that, but Nike is a large corporation who knows how to make this cheap and there competition will be enough to make other companies more efficient.

Snowboard boots are not like ski boots at all. They don't have the same hard plastic lining and mechanics. Nike does know how to make things in large quantities, but Nordica for example is a mass producer of boots as they make all types of boots, not just freeski boots, so they would be just as cheap and efficient as nike
 
No shit the about the monoply part. I get that but what other term would you have rather me used?

Nike is a halfway decent company but to me it seems like all of their stuff is over priced and not that well made. I have a couple of nike hoodies and they were like 40 - 50 bucks. They do not keep me warm on a 55 degree day. That aside their shoes come apart within 1 year of gym class. It seems like the boots would be about the same quality as the other products they produce.

All in a I see where you are comming from but leave the ski companies to make ski boots and nike can make their basketball shoes
