Night Skiing

Repost. So my local hill sucks, but its small property size does give it one advantage: night skiing. Whereas most resorts are closed after 4, my hill is open until 9 pm and 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays. For many skiers a full day is seven hours. I have skied 17 hours on multiple occasions, and it's rare if I have a session less than 10 hours. This helps my endurance and allows the party to keep going after the sun goes down. I love night skiing. Less people. Easier to do shenanigans and not get busted. Who else skis a small hill that goes late?

Snow Creek in Westin, Missouri (right by Kansas City). The park is not bad considering it's size. Usually about 15 features to work with. The entire park crew is made up of snowboarders, though. So you'll get some stuff like ride-ons and tables from time to time. But seriously, ride-ons are a fucking waste of a feature. I'm used to ice landings because people (noob boarders) don't know how to land properly.

i can go to one that goes until 2 as well, why anyone would want to ski that long i do not know, but you can do it.

Night skiing at Wachusett is ok I guess. At times it is 10x worse then the day because all the gapers get out of school/work and liftlines get like 20 to 30 minutes long.

well my home mountain is the largest lit skiable area in america. it's open till 10:30 even days of the week and 11 on friday and sunday. this season it's going to be open till 2 am every saturday. come at me

My hill isn't that small and it's open till 10 every night. Once a year they have a thing where its open all night, so you can ski from like 8 in the morning till like 10pm the next day, so like 38 hours straight. (If someone had the endurance to do that that would be crazy.) They also hide things around the mountain so you can get prizes and stuff (like back backs or skis etc. (I know, unrelated, but a really cool event.)

Yeah, 2 am seems pretty damn late. I prefer day skiing though. Not as cold, and the visibility is much better. Overall a more enjoyable experience IMO.

my backup mountain has more acres of night skiing than any other hill in north america and its open til 11. i win

you just haven't looked hard enough.. tline has some awesome terrain. as well as the park which is sick too… but i just got some pow sticks and I'm stoked for a powder day on upper bowl.

From someone who hasn't night skied that often, isn't it cold as fuck? If it wasn't too cold it sounds like it could be a great time, but the few times I've done it, it's been freezing.

Ski Bromont is the largest lit skiable area in America, with 450 acres

of skiable terrain, forests, 156 trails and spread over 7 hillslides, 9

chairlifts, more than 1000 snow guns, and guaranteed conditions day and

night.

ski bowl is the largest one in usa, not america, they have about 320 acres of night skiing terrain.

17 hour ski sessions here in Kansas City rock. It is tough on your body forsure but we dont have that long of a ski season (mid December - March) so we ski all we can! It love for the sport

My hill has night skiing but they are super poor and cant afford to run the lights very late. i think it closes an 8

I feel ya... im in Missouri. We have to make our own snow and half the time its ice because of the temps. Only a 400 ft vert. drop.... but i took a gps out skiing one icy night and reached the max speed of 46 mph with no wax on my skis

My hills open until 11 on the weekends and there has definitely been some days I ride 'til close but usually it's just skiing on a giant sheet of ice and deadly

My hill is open till 10 every night except mondays and sundays, but the park sucks because the owner is soo hesitant to set up any features. So it sucks.

Boreal has night skiing. Mammoth used to a while ago but one citizen complained so they had to shut it town :(

Keystone used to do this sort of thing. Some sort of contest to see who could get the most runs in. We typically just got fucked up.

Anytime after 10 pm is reserved for drinking and banging fat chicks.

if my mountain was open till 2am I would just use that as an excuse to stay out till 3am doing otha shit. But snoqualmie is open till 10 every night except sunday it's pretty rad for night skiing.

My hill is open until 10 every day of the week. Plus they have a 6 PM groom so night skiing is as good as getting first tracks. Nothings better than a fresh park after school.

Sorry, couldn't resist OP -

My only experience of night skiing was in late March in Saalbach, Austria. By about 4pm the snow was slushy as hell so we'd go in, cook some dinner then head out about 6 when it started to get colder. It was good having the park and gondola to ourselves, but the snow took on a really weird gritty consistency, I didn't really like it that much.
