how do you think he is going to go in the comps this year? he hit the comps pretty hard last year however with henrik, phil, wallisch, russ and others at their best, is he in with a shot of taking home any of the major comps?

perfect.

Nick goepper will continue killing comps.

Perfectly oiled robotic comp winning machine formulated from the fiery depths of Mordor

after seeing the return to skiing edit or whatever it was called, the one he just dropped, have a new view of him. i used to hate his style but he fucking KILLED it in that edit, really fun to watch him ski

I'm definitely not a fan of his style, but his skill is nuts and nobody can deny that. So I'd say he'll do consistently get in the top 5 like last year.

at 1:20 my fucking head exploded. But I would like him more if he wore shit that was 6 sizes too big for him and did everything backseat.

This is true of all of newschoolers. Prettttty much all of the hating has no basis. Sucks, because geopper kills it and deserves way more respect.

yeah on a related note, i havent seen anyone kill keystones early season park as hard as this kid just did.

Exactly, Goepper kills it, NS just has pretty close-minded view of what style is. Basicelly, if you:

A) Ride in comps

B) Focus on comps and not filming

C) Don't wear baggy cloths/have smoke shots, etc.

Then you are by default considered a "untrue" sier who is "robotic" and somehow inferior, nevermind those perfect rail tricks in that edit.

Try popping open the jacket, saying something dumb while smoking a j on the lift, and sag those stupid pants a bit will ya, I can practically see where your legs are, I should just see a mass of flying clothing instead, looks way more stylish.

this for sure, if he just changed all his shit and a facemask and at the end of the edit showed his real face hahahaahaha would be so sick

Hes always had a nice style but everyone just hates athlete skiers aka comp skiers aka money maker mike.

These Goepper threads are boring. It's obvious that he's good. Everybody knows that already. And clearly that edit was sick. I hadn't seen it yet, so +k to whoever posted it.

There are just skiers out there that are a lot more fun to watch in my opinion. It's not because of shots with smoke rings, or triple xl gear. Those kinds of things generally turn me off towards an edit. What gets me most interested is creativity.

I really liked seeing Goepper buttering onto that down bar and tricking over that tiny feature. Those things showed a level of creativity that I don't think I've ever seen in one of his edits. Competitions don't allow for innovations like those, so I don't fault him for it. Still, I'd be stoked to see him cruising around a park killing it creatively on small stuff like this more often.

I actually really enjoyed that edit, I personally have no real problem with his style, he is really young so has many years to improve and refine his style, he will be a real force in skiing in the future much like Tom Wallisch is now.

I have loads of respect for the dude, but even after watching that edit theres something about the way he moves his upper body on switchups and some spins out of rails that really bothers me.

The more I watch him, the more I like his style. There's something about it that seems so raw, like he's learned how to slay both jumps and rails by doing things his way.

talented but i dont like his style, at all

thus, i dont really like watching him ski. there are lots of people who are less technical but way better skiers (at least to watch) IMO

I actually like his style. He moves like an athlete, not some awkward, too skinny for his body, style like most of the kids now days. It's like there's a purpose in the way he moves, not just hucking and throwing himself around. Kind of like Bobby. I guess as a life long athlete myself, I can appreciate it.

His still a teenager, you can expect him to have landings and smoothness or eric pollard.

The kid is crazy talented tho. Im calling US slope team to be Bobby, Tom, Goepper, Gus and thats an insanely good team.

amazing tricks. tons of talent. not too stoked on the style. so much talent though. and for those that say style has to be baggy clothes, check out Banks Gilberti.

I feel like he will grow into his style extremely well.

He's insanely good and has room to grow still. He is a very well rounded skier outside the park and it definitely gives him an edge in competition.

Its been fin watching a kid from my home hill blow up like this.

worst argument i have seen yet. The whole age has a bearing on style is bullshit in most cases. Nick is also not that young

It does when you go from being 5 feet to over 6 feet in the space of months. You have to figure out how to use your newly acquired size and make it look good. The same thing happened to Laker. Give Goepper a couple more months and I'm willing to be he'll be really damn stylish.
