Nick Goepper vs. Alex-Beaulieu-Marchand

Ok, I know you're tired of these olympic threads, but, whatever.

Who do you think will take home the gold in Sochi? I honestly think it has come down to these two. After re-watching their respective dew tour runs, the actually were very similar. Both had four dubs and while ABM had a dub 7, nick had an unnatural dub 12. Both have triples down. ABM has dub 7's but goepper has butter dubs.

I hope ABM wins it for Canada though but honestly they are very close.

Who do you think will take it?

If you think Goepper isn't the No 1 threat to the competition, then you're wrong. The guys arsenal is beyond everyone elses in the park scene, and he lands perfect every single time. I think I'm right in saying he has both way butter dub 10's

ive got nothing but respect for the guy and his amazing riding, but i really hope goepper doesn't win as skiing really doesn't need his particular style to be seen as "the best skier" as many gapers will regard whoever wins

ABM on the other hand is the recent king of dope new axes and weird tricks so i'd love to see him throw down at O

also i have to wonder what finals will look like? sometimes people get insane at comps and throw down shit they normally never would, i wonder if that will happen at all here or if people will be sticking to planned runs

Make a case for any skier you want. I'm saying I think/hope ABM wins. He's got style, amplitude and a deep ass bag of tricks.

If it was up to NS, ABM would win by miles, but Geopper's 'robotic' style seems to always be equated with stomping tricks since he lands completely on balance and on center every time. For the Olympics, I'd have to give the victory to Geopper.

Goepper's gonna win and then you're gonna cry in the corner with the rest of your Inspired, 13 year old, park rat friends.

Going to say he has no where close to the number of tricks as guys like Hatveit.

He is, however, more consistent than anyone else.

Awwww. my little brother just turned 14 too! Maybe you guys can have a little playdate together.

Don't get butthurt when people make fun of you cause you're a kid on this site. This isn't the Disney channel, you don't need parents permission to log in. Fuck the haters. We're all just jealous because you have more years of skiing ahead of you than we do.

I'm with you though. I hope ABM takes gold, and the Goepper fries it's circuits.

Goepper is going to win with flawless technical skill. Judges don't care about whatever flavor of the month dude impersonating the long haired kid from Dazed and Confused that NS is crushing on currently.

I can't wait for the tears.

Goepper is like the poster boy for all the young kids who will watch the Olympics and want to be like him, he's got the whole small town boy thing going on and some big sponsers. Don't get me wrong, he's great and executes everything perfectly, but I don't think he should win the Olympics. If he does, I think that people may see freeskiing differently than it really is. I think he's almost too advertised. Just my opinion though

Lol thanks for being the spokesperson for "skiing" and it's "needs."

Since when should "skiing" being worried about what gapers think?

Clearly there's nothing serious about my comment. Or this forum at all. Or skiing. Or life. You of all people especially should appreciate that Crotchkiller.

As a great man once said, "It's just skiing"

Goddamn I'm high right now.

I saw an interview on my local news channel (montreal) about ABM and he said he is gonna throw a switch triple cork 12 at sochi... so i would go with abm but also because he kills it on rails

sorry i thought we were talking about slope style freesking.

is this the trick you're talking about?

Goepper just can't catch a break on newschoolers. He has pretty good style, stomps absolutely every, has butter dubs, isn't a douchebag, and has that dub 9 screamin seaman. I don't get why every hates Goepper because he isn't Henrik or Tom.

I wasn't aiming that at him. I think he's unreal. I like this edit too

I think it's not that we don't like him, you just get the feeling that he doesn't even have to try to land the stuff he does. Its as if he was specifically designed to jump into the air and spin. I think Wallisch actually gives off that same "I could easily throw anything I want to" vibe, but he has a bit of flair and showmanship to accompany it and make it interesting.

To be honest, I admire Goepper for not trying to force "style" into his riding. He just lands tricks, and has fun doing it.

Unfortunately the double 7 doesn't score as high in olympic judging eyes. If it did ABM would have been throwing it a lot more I believe. If you watched the most recent grand prix at Park City you can see how the judging is going to work. He who spins/corks more and lands flawlessly is going to win. I saw very little style points reflected in the judges scores.

I personally don't hate Goepper although I wish he would just have some sag to outerwear. He just looks so much like one of those try hard kids at your mountain who doesn't hit any rails or try anything but their parents buy them the nicest equipment. That being said Goepper is fucking ridiculous at skiing. He can stomp essentially any trick in the air and does everything with ease.

Now to what the OP asked. I would think Goepper can beat AMB but Andreas should also be in the conversation. And Henrik will kill it as always but I just feel the judges won't respect some of his tricks because he won't spin or flip as much

I hate this " he's from a small town" bullshit. The dude went to the esteemed $40,000 a year windells academy and went skiing everyday. He grew up on mount hood.

These were the same kind of thing people were saying when Tony Hawk was competing against Hosoi. Now Tony Hawk is considered the GOAT. It all comes around.

yea, unfortunately for Henrik and ABM, dub cork 7's don't score well. I still think ABM has the win in him though.

ABM might be hiding the triple 10 deep down in some pocket of his cork wizardry... he will take it out when the world is ready, but the question is... is the world ready?
