Developers need lots of money to make games. You have no idea how costly it is to release a "Half Life 2" or something along those lines.
 
Actually I would say a huge chunk of creating a game is marketing. Valve spent 25$ million on marketing Left 4 Dead 2, I could just imagine how much money was dropped to hype up MW2

When you aint got a mummy or daddy you gotta hustle, fuck paying for shit if you can it for free. Loads of my friends boxes went down with the banhammer, I think you forget the people who mod boxes are generally more hardcore gamers and have probably bought more shit and supported that industry more than the bunch of n00bs out there. They are the same people that will go out and buy another box and will buy the titles they feel are worth it. Trust me 98% of games that come out these days are REALLY REALLY not worth what you pay for them.

it's been known for years now that modding your 360 will land you a ban. so if you want to mod something, get a computer. i don't understand these so-called "hardcore" gamers that fuck with 360s, because to me hardcore means getting the best graphics possible (PC), the best controller setup possible (PC), the best online experience possible (PC), the fastest processing possible (PC), and i could go on. modding your 360 doesn't make you hardcore, it makes you an idiot who couldn't be bothered to pay attention to what Microsoft has been saying since they released the 360 (NO FUCKING MODS OR YOUR SHIT WILL GET WRECKED).
 
it'll be really shiny, with one button and one wheel, and you'll have to install a different OS on it before you can play the games. oh and it will cost $6000
 
It's only 50 dollars a year, and you get a lot more than just online gaming. Also, the hardware on the ps3 may be "superior" (this is arguable, ps3 fanboys just like to talk shit) but the SERVERS on xbox live are much better because you pay for it, the ps3 servers just couldn't handle the traffic that the xbox live servers get.

A superior network in terms of hardware? You might want to learn a bit about computers.... the hardware of the system doesnt affect the network one bit.

although theres no point even playing MW2 on a PC because of no dedicated servers... which basically strips the PC of all of its incentives except for better controls.
