NHL Season??

As of today its official that the NHL Season has been cancelled through December 31st. First off Gary Bettman can go fuck himself, and do you think there will be a season at all??

Lets hear your thoughts

People seriously need to stop bitching about Gary Bettman, he's the best thing to have ever happened to the NHL.

As much as i singled out Gary Bettman, the WHOLE NHL organization is just as much to blame. Just that everyone hates Bettman and I can't stand him

Gery Bettman is a very good commissioner, everyone is just too uneducated to realize it. And the lockout isn't his fault.

Debatable, its a very large stretch to even claim something like that. I blame this problem 60% on the players since they are being a little ridiculous. Never the less I just wanna watch some fuckin hockey but all I get are 20min rants on the lockouts on Sportsnet.

i think its funny how espn reported on nfl and nba EVERYDAY during their lockouts but dont give two shits about the nhl.

i really hope it comes back. the kings need their fucking banner.

Actually Gary Bettman fucking sucks... and so does Donald Fehr.

They can both go to hell for tarnishing this game over a few million bucks that they've so-forth lost by not playing games.

dont care about hockey one bit anymore. fuck em. i'll enjoy football and then baseball when the spring hits.

Right now I probably hate the players more even though I despise both sides.

Not sure what I'll do with my Bruins tickets. If I had shitty seats I would 100% be donzo with these fucks. Kinda want to see replacement players so they drop the price and I can sit in my lowerbowls for cheap when I am home this spring and drink and sell my uppers for whatever.

I do want someone to pay for this. So bring in some replacement players and let cindy crosby cry a river little bitch.

If Canadian people liked other sports they could never pull this shit but they know they have all of Canada by the balls and most people north of the border won't act like anything happened once its back. Those fans are serious enablers especially Toronto dunno how u guys pay all that money to see the worst GM burke give up future hall of famers for fuckin kessel.

I'll defend the Kessel trade by saying, for every single Seguin, there are tons of Brian Lawtons, Daniel Dores, and Patrick Stefans...

Kessel was a proven high calibre two way scoring centreman with upside. Last year he had an 82 point campaign, and he's yet to score less than 30 goals since he was in Boston... Shit, when Kessel was drafted, he was touted as America's Crosby... one of the 'Next Ones' if you will. He's coming off his best year so far, and he's easily an 80 point player if he's on a team that's worth a damn.

Also, it was pretty surprising even for the Leafs that they fell so far as to give Boston a top 5 pick... much less #2. I bet they expected that pick would be #10 at the worst... and if Dougie Hamilton or Jared Knight can pan out in the NHL is still up in the air.

Justin Schultz is lighting up the AHL, so it's saying something when he's NOT the best defensive prospect in the world and Dougie Hamilton is. The guy will pan out at the NHL level, mark my words.

Anyway, I know as much about the lockout goings-on as anybody (I can't look away from this car wreck) and I am pro-owner. If you want to blame someone for the lockout, take note of the fact that Fehr was asked to negotiate throughout last season and refused. That's understandable on the basis that he figures the best deal the players are going to get is on the eve of cancelling this season, not in the middle of last year when there was no pressure to sign, and he may be right, so you can hardly blame the PA for following through... But that's why we have a lockout.

I dunno man. That year you had Kessel first off he was guaranteed to miss 10-20 games due to a surgery and the team was pretty weak. (I loved Phil and the only reason I was OK with the trade was that Lucic-Savard-Kessel wouldn't be able to pick up where they left off b/c of phils surgery that was the best line we've ever had in my time.)

It wasn't trying to put a playoff team over the top either it was trying to make a team likely to miss the playoffs a 7-8 seed. Hamilton is skinny and might not be a first liner but he'll be on the power play immediately and should put up points even if he disappoints defensively and ends up a second pairing D man. Knight is icing on the cake I think hes more of a project than most Bruins think and gets hurt a lot but give him a few years and he'll be playing on some NHL teams 3rd line.

Some Leafs fans were wearing jerseys in our arena for a preseason game that year against another team (not TO) and I was thanking them for Taylor Hall.

Burke has taken a struggling franchise and killed it. Sure he wins some trades like JVR (or getting more than most GMs would for Kaberle) but that team doesn't have a prayer of making hte playoffs or winning a round and he's had 5 years.

But I guess he is the man b/c he has a gay dead son and said he wasn't leaving the draft without the Sedin sisters when he was Vancouvers GM.

If a good team gave up that package for Phil they'd have won the trade because you can bank on him for 40 goals a year he's a good player just Burke had an awful team and gave away future building blocks. And somehow still has his job.

I agree that Burke is a dingbat... but the Kessel trade wasn't the most assanine thing he's done, that's for sure.

...his inability to get a good goaltender is the most laughable thing, though.

Well, i live in winnipeg, where we just got the jets back. The whole city literally went on vacation and partied for a week striaght when we got the team back. So to be honest im suprised that the city hasnt begun a riot about this lockout yet.

I don't even care anymore, I'm a die hard leafs fan (don't hate), first two months I was pretty hopefull, but now it's not even worth it to for them to try to cram together a season. Yeah I think Gary is a useless fuck, why doesn't he negotiate giving some of his $8 mill to the "poor" teams instead of stealing it from the players who earn every penny they get. And for the "poor" teams, giving them more money to compete won't necessarily improve the team at all, look at Toronto, they have consistantly been one of the worst teams in the NHL for the 20 years I have been alive, and they happen to be the most wealthy hockey team in the world. I would rather this shit keep going till they both can get what they want, for the most part. And be done with this lockout shit for good.

I'm still confident we'll have a short season. Course I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to all things hockey. I'm just holding onto hope that either side wouldn't fuck up so bad as to lose a whole season again. It ain't looking great though. Let's hope talks this week actually go somewhere, I doubt they will though, I'm thinking if we get any progress or good news its gonna come just before the christmas holiday. With games shut down til end of december I just don't see them negotiating seriously this week.

I'm kinda laying the blame more on the players at this point but both sides are pissing me off.

are you mad that you are a leafs fan or that sidney crosby is the best player in the world behind Malkin maybe who is also on my hometown team.... you mad?

this.

saw hamilton play in manchester NH and he has some amazing talent. lots of poise with the puck great on offensive side of the ice and on defense he blocks shots and finishes his checks like he's a veteran.

cant ask for much more

Trololololololoolololololol

I dont consider myself a hockey fan for the last 5 years for many differents reasons which are totally not related lol. But damn, I miss watching a good ol hockey game with the homies in a bar arround wings and beers... Lockout make the social life suck here in Quebec, and probably everywhere else in Canada and some good hockey town in the states. Our sports channel is now playing 2002 Bruins-Habs Game 6 ... dude we dont fucking care...

I simply hope for all of them that all their potentials fans from the past season (I'm talking about Coyotes new fans in example) don't give a fuck about hockey anymore. Plain stupid. I'd love to see a summer without baseball, football or soccer... It would just look stupid.

As stoked as I am to see all the NHL thread regulars in here, I'm going to be brutally honest here. I'd put the chances at seeing a game this season at

Anyone can cheer for a winning team, takes dedication to cheer for a losing team. I just hope this horseshit gets resolved before next season.
