Anyone have predictions for whats going down next season? Here's my picks.

East

1. Washington (too good)

2. Pittsburg

3. Boston

4. Jersey

5. Tampa (I think their going to surprise people this year)

6. Buffalo

7. Carolina (Had best record after the Olympics last year)

8. Leafs

West

1. Sharks (essentially the same team as last year)

2. Vancouver

3. Chicago (lost some depth)

4. LA

5. Detroit

6. Ducks

7. Colorada

8. Pheonix

can somebody explain to me exaclty why the NHL decided to deny Kovy's deal with the Devils? I mean there are other super long contracts still in place. Why was this the one the league had to take a stand against?

Hahaha are you serious?

You put TORONTO in there with a 30-38 record last season, and nawt the montreal canadiens?! 39-33 btw. with a 14 point difference, did you not see how far the habs made it last year? Knocking out first place Washington, then getting the reigning stanley cup champions the Penguins..

once they shipped out all the old useless players, the leafs were actually tough to beat. after the trade deadline they were one of the top teams. Habs are gonna be screwed if Price cant get it going. the cup run was all on the shoulders of cammalleri and halak. where's halak? in st.louis. dont get me wrong, they have a solid team and i think they'll make the post season, but so will toronto.

yea but last regular season we did'nt have PK Subban, this season we will. This year will be a good one for mtl. mark my words!

Drive For 25!!

no ur right for not putting the habs but leafs dont belong either.. cuz they just suck.. but habs arent making the playoffs cuz they have no offense (who's their best player like plekanec??) and no goalie (no halak=no wins)

Flyers all the way, but that's just the disgruntled philly fan in me talking. Honestly I haven't even been keeping up with the trades and shit. We lost some of our young bucks didn't we?

I have no idea, it looks like their going to work it out and NJD will still get him. I hope they do anyway.

As for the leafs, after Burkey decided to GM like its a video game and trade half his team after a loss, they were actually pretty sick. That and the fact were likely to ship Kaberle off for some much needed offense, I figure leafs are good for a play off seat. Plus Montreal is just gay, so I didn't put them in. I probably picked it more how I would like to see it go down then how it will.

gionta, gomez and lapierre dont do dhit and sorry about forgetting camalleri cuz hes up there... but gomez and gionta would play on the 3rd line anywhere else in the league but here they play 1st cuz the team has no depth (spelling?) and alex auld would be a 4th goalie anywhere in the league as much as price would be a number 2 anywhere else

hahah the canadiens got Gomez and Gionta because they would be good offensivly, together last year they had 40 goals and 65 assists..Thats pretty good.

also last year we had lost our Captain, and 3 best players. Koivu, Higgins and Kovelev..and more

well thats an opinion i guess lol, gomez was second on the team last year with points, but behind Plecanek. the man!

haha. definitely more of an opinion than anything. never liked the guy but i guess you cant argue with the numbers.

Sorry if someone answered this already, but as you probably know the NHL has a salary cap. Ilya is 27 years old and wants a huge contract. The devils are willing to pay him a lot but by offering him 17 years they are able to spread the hit that his salary would take on their cap over several years. A 17 year contract would make him 42 when the contracts end. Chances are incredibly slim he will be will still be playing. So the only reason they made it that long is to lower their cap hit and probably pay him out when he can no longer play.

Yeah they are.

And wow, just re-read my explanation on Ilya kovalchuks contract, sorry if my grammar made it confusing.

wait what? Your predictions make no sense. It will defiantly not be Pittsburgh Washington one and two spots. Also Leafs are you serious they were second last in the entire league last year and they have no goaltending or anyone to help Kessel, trust me they will still suck and what about Montreal like they made it to the conference final and you don't even have them making the playoffs, common.

also very stoked on the upcoming season though.

I really don't think Wash and Pitt at the top is that crazy. And we have Giguire now in net and Gustavson has slowly been improving. After about February last year the Leafs were doin pretty good.

obviously you dont watch any games or follow hockey. second half of the season, more specifically, after the trade deadline, the leafs had one of the best records in the league. and over the post season, all they have done is trimmed the fat and picked up some solid, young players. they will make the playoffs.

Actaully I do watch alot of hockey. I've got Sabres season tickets, go to half a dozen leaf games and go to Montreal a handful of times a year to watch the Habs (favourite team). The Leafs might be a bit better than last year but thats not saying much.... Also they have no goaltending, Giguere is well past his prime and Gustavsson is a career backup at best and everyone knows you need good goaltending no matter how much scoring you have. Your clearly a desperate fan who knows his team hasn't even had a sniff of playoff action since 2004. They won't make the playoffs.

honestly, Montreal can go either way. These guys definitely have the potential to be a great team with the players they have, but they just have to show up and play. for example, they definitely won't go anywhere if they play like they did at the end of the regular season last season, but if they show up they can do some damage. Cammalleri is a beast, plekanec is legit, gionta is good, lapierre can actually be a great player when his heart is in it, and Price is actually a great goalie, he can definitely do work. And im really not worried about the fact that we don't have Halak, i mean throughout the season he was just an average goalie, then he has some good performances in the playoffs and now all of a sudden everyone thinks hes the best fuckin goalie in the world and that the habs cant do shit without him, im sorry but thats just stupid. And now that they'll have subban in the lineup for the whole season, shits gonna be legit.

I dont think toronto will finish as low as they did last year but i still dont think theyre making the playoffs.

Shouldn't make picks so far away from the season starting. All I know is I am loving the moves my 'Nuckers have made this offseason re-signing Raymond and bringing in Ballard and Hamhuis. That Hamhuis contract is awesome, thought he'd be a 5 hit. Sucks to lose Grabner right when he was coming along, but we have a lot of small speedy guys.

Sedin Sedin Burrows

Raymond Kesler Hodgson(?)

Hansen Malhotra Samuelsson

Rypien Johnson Tambellini(?)

Extras: Hordichuk, Bolduc, Shirokov, Schroeder(?)

Hamhuis Edler

Bieksa Ballard

Edler Salo

Extras: O'Brien, Rome

Luongo

Schneider

(?)s next to guys who might play and might not though I expect to see Hodgson make it this year and Shirokov has a chance as well. We'll wait for camp to evaluate Schroeder.

Samuelsson might move to line 2. Bieksa might get dealt for a 2nd line forward (or maybe just prospects / picks) which would move O'Brien or Rome into the top 6, unless we then re-sign Mitchell. Lots of possibilities left and faith in Gillis is warranted at this point.

Gustavsson a career backup? what do you call carey price? gustavsson played only 1 more game than price and he finished with 3 more wins and 5 less losses. this is with a team that was no help, especially on the pk. meanwhile, price had a fairly strong team. a that went farther than they should have in the playoffs. and he wasn't even the goalie that played. where was he?

oh yeah. being a backup.

get off the montreal bandwagon. that playoff run was your last.

leafs in 8th place? yeah right, they were horrible last year and the only good player they got this offseason was kris versteeg from the hawks. the west is pretty much gonna be the same except i think the sharks are gonna be even better and i could see either columbus or st. louis being pretty good this year. washington and pitt are gonna dominate the east once again. but i think philly and montreal should be in that mix of the top 8 since both teams were incredible in the playoffs last season. i doubt jersey will in the top 5 this year in the east. it seems like they have been declining over the years. and they didnt resign kovalchuck, who would be a key part to their team this year.

Wings will be a contender this year! Howard has a full season and some playoff experience under his belt now and was one of the best goal tenders in the league last year. They signed Madano and Salei. Also hoping to get rid of more dead weight and they will be a lot more comfortable this season! Actually excited for the season to start!

GO WINGS!

Thrashers will make the playoffs . suckmydick/end thread

Bergfors-Antropov-Little

Gucci Kane-Peverley- Dustin Motherfucking Byfuglien

Ladd-Slater-Pettersson

Eager-Cormier-Thorburn

Enstrom-Bogosian

Hainsey-Oduya

Sopel-Kulda

Zubarev, Valabik

Mason

Pavalec

WRONG. Hamhuis's trade rights were traded to the penguins for a 3rd round pick prior to the draft. Hamhuis for some odd reason didn't like PA so he denied the offer from the pens and went west to the canucks.

Gustavsson is a career backup believe me. And i never said Price wasn't I don't even know if he can be our number one. We will have to wait and see. Also i'm not hopping on the bandwagon they've been my favourite team forever and i've been going to Habs games each year since I was 6.

I would say get off the Leaf bandwagon but they suck so bad they don't even have one. Sorry dude.
