Next Year - Armada?

So as I am done for the season due to a hurt leg, broken bindings and SAT's (haha sorry for bringing that up) I am thinking about next year's equipment.

So Im from Boston, ski either park at Wawa or trees up in VT, prolly will be out in Jackson Hole next year for a week or somethin and am leaning toward buying a fat ski. I rode the AR6's this year, loved the stiffness but obvi didn't like that they couldn't really float. I'll use them for pure park next year. Since I loved my first year on Armada, I have been researching options like the ARV, this year's JJ's and next year's JJ's.

Oh yeah I'm 5'9 150lbs., I am pretty good all mtn and decent in the park. I like a stiff ski that doesn't get tossed up in the bumps easily and isn't too soft that I over power it. Next year's JJ's look very inticing considering the length (185) and the rocker, which would be awsome for hell bent like park skiing (I assume?). However, will it be too fat and rockered to do anything in the bumps? I know its not meant for anything like bumps but out here u needa ski them to get to most fresh stuff. I assume itd be wicked awsome in the trees but should I be conservative and go for something more like the ARV?

I'm also not tied to Armada or anything so any other suggestions would be sweet.

Also, bindings wise, any info on next year's Salomon STH 14 models?

Thanks and sorry for the length of this.

rockers are sick, but for east coast they might not be a good choice if they are your every day ski. but if you will only breakem out for some powder they might be ok.

If your looking for an all mountain armada ski that u can use every day but still want to float from time to time go with the arv

I should put the following into context; I'm not a very good park skier.

I took some EP Pros into the park when I was bored, and, although it wasn't impossible, it was pretty awkward. Not to say that it's not worth giving a shot... but if I were buying a pair of all-mountain park-skis, rockered fat skis would be at the bottom of my list. Just something to keep in mind.

JJ's? Ep's? Hellbent's? That seems like so much for so little pow.

How does the ARV handle? (I'm 5'10" 140 lbs) I'm looking at some skis I can't take out back sometimes in CO, and the rest in park and groomers. I've also been looking at the Nancy, Celebrity, and Pandora. I would just love some input on the ARV. Thanks.

Yeah true that Im not worried about these in the park necesarily and you can always adapt to a ski to an extent. The first time I rode my AR6s (year before was foils) I could barely turn them and they felt horrible.

By day three they were the smoothest bastards ever. Basically Im wondering whether or not I would be able to adapt a rockered ski like next years JJ's to icy classic east coast conditions. Again those conditions would only be a segway to much more powdery if not untouched shit (gotta love those stashes) in the woods. The reason Im interested in these at all is for slowin it down in the park and skiing them out east on pow days/days where I can find pow and out west. Again, any other ski suggestions would be money.

No no we arent taking about EP's or Hellbents. EP's are frickin gynormus and hellbents are a little much underfoot and nooddles on ice. Im just wondering about the JJ's since they are new and havent heard much, I like the idea of a rockered ski to take in the park, and am curious how they hold up on stuff like ice.

The only thing about the ARV is I heard from everyone at my shop etc. that they are kind of noodly and not too stiff = bad.

get the k2 obsethed (2009) it has a wide enough underfoot for out west and has a slight rocker, so you could also use em here in the east for the very few pow days. and is wawa wachusset or waterville valley?

i have this years arv mounted with sth 12's. there perfect for what i love doing - skiing powder/trees. mind you, i've never slid a box on these, they are nice for landing straight airs ;). someone else could give better feedback on how these are on park. they are super easy to handle on groomers, and i like how they ride switch. i like how they float in powder, and how they manouver through tight spaces and trees.

Nahh only a few rockered skis dont have some camber underfoot. The Volant Spatulas were like that and they were horrible everywhere but pow. With next years JJs and the Hell Bents (not sure with the pontoons) and most other rockered skis that can go in the park there is some camber underfoot. Even with the ARG's there is some traditional sidecut underboot and some camber.

Not that this is important to why this thread started but just clearing that up aspendukes.

Tons and I prefer strands of noodles to poppy cambered skis.

Anyways I know this thread is kinda dead but if anyone can gimme some info on how next years JJ's handle in the ice crud and bumps (obvisouly Im not using it for that but again, on the EC a lot of times u needa go thru shit for pow) thatd be sweet.

the new JJ's only have a slight rocker in the tip so its not like a hellbent or ep pro but i still wouldnt reccomend it at all on the east. i ski in NH and VT and ski park there and i was in jackson and ail this year and skied my brigades every where and they killed it i would highly reccomend them for annything.

I've had three years of ARVs and they're about the most versatile ski out there. Super stable all over the place. They actually have a decent amount of sidecut but still wide enough waist for ec pow. Either that or get the Fleet (El Ray) and use tough, cheap and old binders for everyday riding/park, and get a pair of JJs when you stash enough dough. You don't need em' as soon as they drop cause they'll be top price. Snatch em up for late-seson storms.

the jp vs julien has a very similar if not the same rocker as an ARG, so it is not a slight rocker at all. It does however have camber underfoot, so it skis more like a normal ski.

As far as the actual thread goes, wait a bit and take a look at the Armada rockered Park ski. Should be sick
