wassup ns!

Im pretty new in park... im 14... and don't know much. its hard to progress cause my fam doesn' like to do the park and don't go too often cause we live kina far. so i can do airs, 180s, 360s japan grabs saftey grabs, boxes shiftys..etc. working on tubes. but wondering what easy trick should i learn? ik the tubes/rails will open up a whole new world but like littel things that i can do on the boxes or in the air? thanks!

Also big shout out to Josh Anderson the Bag o Tricks for teaching me sooo much through his youtube!!

def try to get into rails/tubes etc, like you said it opens an entire new world to you. start on some tiny little box or tube, whichever feels more comfortable, and LEAN FORWARD (99% of newbies slip out and fall backward). if you're really scared of the whole thing, start on a tiny flat box and just slide over it forward and then start pivoting to sideways towards the end and slowly but surely work toward sliding the whole thing sideways. full 90* sideways, lean forward, flex your core, look at the end of the rail/box

add your grabs to your spins, maybe try a 5

start learning switch stuff, landing switch is easiest but you can also start practicing skiing switch and taking off switch. just start on really little stuff and feel it out. one thing to keep in mind on switch takeoffs is you don't have to rush it much. when you're ready, just hit a little jump switch and let your body take off and then spin the 180 to forward

def keep doing '"regular" skiing, it''s dope and you can do it forever and it will help you a ton in the park

just have fun and do whatever you can visualize yourself doing next and add branches to your skill tree

ohh yea i def will keep skiing the whole mountain!! i love skiing pow in trees! we go to utah and ski and have some great pow!

Blunt and mute grabs look sick and ditto to skiing switch and learning tubes! Maybe spin 180s your opposite way on small jumps too. Sounds like you're heading towards a real solid foundation

for sure man. have fun, learn at your own pace, and feel free to ask more questions here! learning park is a super fun adventure

also, you're obviously welcome to ask any and all questions that come to mind but it's also helpful to search this site well because there have been tons of great answers to these kinds of questions over the years. ignore the search function on here, just google: site:newschoolers.com + [your search terms, maybe "how to rails" or whatever]

also, if you're having trouble with something, the best way to improve is to have someone film you on it. that makes it super easy for you or others to see what you're doing wrong/need to fix

Get out of the park and jib the rest of the mountain too. My daffy/butter/hand-drag game got so much better this year just playing on natural rollers. Also make sure you don't get lazy and stay on your carve game. It will help you if you progress to corks and lets be honest a few well placed carves will make anyone smile.
