From January to June I'll be living in Oslo, Norway taking classes there. Does anyone know of ski hill's close by there and of a good way to get to them, aka a train?

Are there any deals on season passes to multiple hills?

Anyone have some good Norway advice, what to check out, what to avoid?
 
you also have Tryvann which is accessable by the subway! Just hop on line 1! Their park hasn't been the best lately, but i heard they are stepping it up alot.
 
Varingskollen! much better park than tryvann, and only 30min to get there by train.

Do you know where in Oslo you will be living yet? And it is really expensive so be prepared and get all your ski equipment in the US or wherever you live before you go but i would recommend Tryvann or Varingskollen. www.tryvann.no www.varingskollen.no The sites are in Norwegian but you might find some pics when the season has started. Tryvann is very close to the city, i have less than a 10 minute drive to get there while varingskollen is 30 minutes or more depending where you live as you have to catch the subway down town to take the bus or train. Tryvann has a nice park but not many big jumps as its not a very big mountain. Varingskollen has a really good park with lots of rails, nicely sized and shaped jumps. If you are going to ski alot you should of course have a season pass, luckily the season pass works for both slopes and costs something like 2300 norwegian kroner, this was last year by the way. You could also of course find some urbans in Oslo and if your not in the main part of the city most cops or security dont care, iv only been thrown out once and that was because i could fall into some train tracks. But anyway you should have a nice time in Norway :)
 
Ya I will be living on campus at the University of Oslo. Traveling by public transit is going to be my method of movement as I won't have a car there and I don't know how often planned trips will happen. Getting a season pass is a def. maybe I can afford one to trysil too. Thanks for the heads up on the exchange rate, I'll be buying most everything in the states that getting it across sea's somehow.

Anyone else with some insider Oslo advice?
 
I'm half norwegian and stayed there with family from end of may until december last year. Didn't get to ski though :( I hope to come back in may again for this summer. You'll have a blast and almost everyone speaks english and likes to party.
 
You should try and make it down to Kristiansand. Sick town with lots of partying. I never have gotten to ski there, but yes, things are very expensive compared to the states.

Norge is very fun. Make your way to sweden for some hot ladies.
