Newshoolers: THe Motion Picture

this sounds like an excellent. i would love to be in it but i live in Whistler so theres like a bajillion people better than me. i do have lots of experiance editing though so give me a shout if you need editors
 
not a bad idea. have everyone send in footage of them and their friends to some guy who can edit and put it all together
 
Anyone who wants to get involved and whats to try to make this work, start thinking of ideas for everything, just start thinking about creative shots, songs, and edts that havent been done yet.
 
i think you should just have anyone who has a clip or small edit they think is worthy of being in the film, send it to you or whoever organizes it, and then go through all the clips and decide what stays and goes, then maybe edit them into sections for each region of the country. like instead of having like one skiers segment, have the VT. Segment and the Midwest Segment and the Whistler Segment and so on, any large enough compilation of clips becoming its own section and then just putting the kids name on the screen for their clips, but not giving everyone there own section persay.

thats my two cents on this idea

yea it sounds dope. we could have like different types of segments too, like all mountain, urban, park, rail, big air, backcountry, telemark??, back yard, and any other aspects that i didnt mention.

or we could also divide the movie up in like east canada, central, west, and then all the parts of the states.

i think this would actually be pretty cool. and then like i said before, we should all get together at a main resort, like whistler blackcomb, cause the sponsor us, and just have a big newschoolers party/ski weekend/week. just a bunch of partying and skiing.

also, if someone can send me that cult invite again cause i went there, and i dont really know how to join. like since we got the new format.
 
I think what we need is someone to send movie clips too within each region, they look over the clips and pick out the best ones and then send em on. What do you guys think?
 
i think one person editing this isn't gonna work. there's so many people that would send stuff in. You might need to have at least one editor for each section of the country/world. Youd definitely need one guy for Whistler, and probly one just for Breck/Vail/Keystone. And then some for out east, etc.
 
Yah thats what I mean, one or several people per area/resort. Im from Seattle, so someone would cover the ALpental/Stevens/Baker area, someone from Oregon would cover that area etc...

alright. good idea. but people on NS are not only from the States or Canada. It would be sick if it was a global thing. Anyone that had footage, or interviews or anything could send it to a certain location where some people would sift through and select the best. then edit. could be sick
 
This is a nasty idea. Even though its just amatuers skiing footage, it will still sell (probally even more) because the majority of the ski world is amatuer, and the amatuers will watch it because they can relate to it. Real real creative, good luck with it and ill get involved howevere I can. holla
 
This is such a good idea, I don't get why some people are hating on it. It wouldn't have every member of NS, however many it would take it put together a solid 45, 50 minute movie. People could submit videos to be judged and then the best videos could be edited and pieced together. I'd throw down money to see that.

You'd have to send in just the skiing though so it could all be pieced together right. If everybody edited their own it would get messy.
 
I've thought about it, and it would be fucking SICK if it could happen...if you guys can pull that off, you can pull anything off.
 
thanks for agreeing, yeah, its going to take a lot of planning and support and time, but if we get it done, its going to be big time, remember to let me know if you want to be apart of the cult and provide input.

We did that on a Spanish freeskiing site. So I agree it is a good idea. we are doing it again this year. I'm not gonna post the site cause the bandwith is limited :)
 
Shot gun southern Hemisphere, I have already started guys, Im making one already, I travel the world shooting what I See, from the WSI to ISPO the the floating rail jam on Sydney Harbour, its alot of work and really expensive but I swear its really rewarding, plus I have met heaps of cool people on the way. Just film everythinjg, thats they key, would be great to do this and I would happily colaborate with any one on this, im not a master of final cut but im capable. The best fun is doing a follow cam of some one who doesnt know your filming, its completely natural. get me in the cult on this so we discuss in more detail, but i have the hardware to do this, problem is I live on the other side of the world to almost all of you. I think a cool Idea would be to only use peoples Screen names. I dont like the idea of the top 30 riders though, so what if the movie is 3hours long, thats why dvds have chapters, the point is that it should be in OUR movie so EVERYONE should have a shot at being in it, rather than peoples segments we could look at segments by location only, so instead of a 1 min vid of a person we would use a 1min vid of a mountain or area. Any way thats my spin on this, we could look at solid powder for ideas.
 
You keep talkign about everyone shooting their own footage and sending it in. How many people on here do you honestly think have cameras shooting DVD quality movie? I really like this idea...but it will be extremely hard to pull off.
 
i think alot of ppl on here have camera for dvd quality movie.... i mean by no means would it be a high def film but who cares... this thing would make so much money cause every1 on NS would want to buy it... im sure you could even get some corperate sponsors in on this thing... has the potential to be the most bought ski movie of the year
 
yeah, i really like that idea of kind of sneaking up on kids who are sick and follow caming them without there knowledge, we got a lot of good ideas flowing through the cult. keep messaging me if you want to be apart of it.
 
it was supposed to go down like at least three times, never happened tho.

If that thing works I,ll definatly throw in some stuffs
 
this wouldnt work because its too broad, they tried making an all ny movie and people have tried making an all vt movie, too many people, and not everyone will agree on one type of editing, music, themes, ect. and the quality of each camera is going to change so frequently that its going to get annoying to watch.
 
Thats why one or two people should run it, and in the end, those two decide who gets to be in and what shots and what music...
 
this idea is so SICK!! I'm def in. I live in norway, I can try to get all other norwegian ns members in on it to get a segment from the norwegian newschool scene
 
if you have used this site for more than a year, this has been proposed 50 times. no one is organized enough to pull it off. they just BS about it in the forums.
 
yeah, thats what ive been hearing, but i want to make this happen. No one has followed through, and i think if it gets off its feet, it will gain a lot of momentum.
 
add me to the cult i like this idea. And someone should contact Five-9 the leader of the movie makers cult. they could help in editing and stuff
 
i would love to do it, but it seems like alot of work for the winter, i mean i am like always skiing, is this going to be a thing where i can edit up some footage in the spring and then send it?
 
yeah, im hoping this movie comes out late spring/summer, we havent decided yet, we dont want it to intefer with skiing time but we do want to get quality footage. Its starting to get organized right now, were coming up with a plan.
