Newschoolers users have jobs ?

I've been making video games for nearly 30 years. (Shit - am I too old for NS?)

Also help out with Alpine Initiatives as JP was (and always will be) my hero and inspiration.

Same here, you at an OEM or Integrator?

Been on both ends. Recently went out on my own.

Doing everything under the sun. Programming and servicing existing machines, making new machines from scratch, retrofitting old machines with new controls, consultation, plant lay outs, process analysis. you name it.

i put up tents, for events and the such. so i guess it's like construction lite. my coworkers are usually high, sometimes homeless. happy to report none of them have gone to jail for assault (jury found him innocent ?).

Set up tents > install solar > become electrician seems to be the classic Vermont thing to do

Storm & Surfacewater Utility Superintendent. It rains a lot in the PNW so we stay pretty busy

Software Engineer. Weekend warrior for sure, but live close enough to several dawn patrol spots that I have close to 20 days in the backcountry so far this year. Excited to move next year where theres night skiing and still have dawn patrol options. Plus, 3 weeks of PTO per year means thats at least 10 powder days I can take off

I do GIS (mapping and such) for the local gov't. Mostly transportation-related but it's pretty varied.

How did we all get so old and lame?

Operating room nurse for several orthopedic surgeons. I get to fix bones every day and it’s pretty cool

College student, cyber engineering internship now but going to flight school after college. Might take a sales engineering job to pay for it.

I'm an economic development director and before that I was a custom bootfitter and ran a ski department at a large independent store. quite the switchup

not to be lame on the forums but can I do quickbooks integration while also running npsp on this hypothetical sales software

My dad and I run a residential concrete business, good money but hard work. Currently going to school for engineering so I don't wreck my body doing concrete

i forgot to say what i do but im the pipelayer for a excavation company

I started my apprenticeship doing undergrounds but sadly I work for a different company now that mostly does high rises. I honestly miss digging.

Is there anyone in the software engineering space who would like to give me a referral? I’m able to work in the US, Canada, and Europe without needing a work visa, I have two years of internship experience mainly doing dev-ops, building api’s / micro services, data science and machine learning, I know python, c / c++ / c#, sql, docker, and have a fair bit of knowledge in network protocols. I’m graduating this spring with a CS major and Math minor. I’d really appreciate it the job search has been rough. Of course I love to ski and be outside, pm me an I can send you my resume. Help a homie out ?

Entry into SW is always rough. Send me a dm, always happy to help folks network, that's how this stuff actually works.

It's why I am? I'm just very narcissistic and don't really ever think about why anyone else does anything. This is about me.

wishing I did better in high school and took that ish seriously. Have a chump ass trade job that I hate

What trade? Network a little bit and you should be able to move laterally to another trade if you're in a low level position. Or start your own thing and work for yourself?

Never too old to reinvent yourself.

Homie I barely graduated with a 2.0, there’s tons of different jobs that don’t require a degree. I got mine solely off a web developer bootcamp certificate.

Theres similar things for grant writing, GIS, research positions, message therapist, etc… . Most places just care about a work ethic and showing up
