It would actually be a terrible idea for us to buy a hardgoods brand. It would put us in competition with all of the people who advertise... plus there's nobody at our company who has any idea how to run a ski brand.

You would be suprised. NS is a fuckin cash cow, the parent company just takes all the money and doesn't invest much back into the site

Yeah I would be interested to hear bishop break it down for us, from what I was told this summer by a very reputable industry source NS pulls down about 4-600 K a month in advertisements, clearly not much of that money is going back into the site, imagine if even a small fraction of that was going back to producers who release content solely on NS? The quality of the edits you are seeing right now would go thru the roof.

Damm, imagine if even 25% of that got funded back into this site the improvements they could make would be huge and they could also support as you said more producers which would be a great thing for the NS community. Fuck we should have definitely bought that Smith Optic Limo.

Yeah well its a big reason why NS is dying out. They have/had the most visited website for freeskiing but did nothing to take advantage of that. Why go on here when you can get constant quality edits elsewhere like SLVSH instead of one good edit followed up by 10 mediocre or boring edits like here on NS.

One great example of a site not being run idiotically is Pinkbike.com. They were just like NS 10-15 years ago but now they're one of the most trafficked action sports websites on the web. This is largely due to the fact they invest back into the community and invest in quality writers and shredders to make edits. NS needs to hop off the "here's hoping for free killer content" idea but someone felt the need to cash out and sell NS off to whichever parent company would pay the most regardless of their managing ideas so its probably too late.
