I don't disagree with you at all. I loved my tint until the 3rd or 4th traffic stop, it honestly made driving in sunny conditions so much more comfortable. I'm familiar with the history of the law and it's absolutely absurd. In NH we can have up to 30% (maybe 25%?) on back windshield and back windows, and gotta be fishbowled up front.

My argument is: if the law stems from police safety- how can an officer know there isn't the same threat of someone with a gun sitting legally in my back seat hiding behind my rear tint?

And I don't blame you for not wanting to cut up your bumper. I'm just saying it seems like you're dealing with a lot of shit for simple little things that cops LOVE to cite people for. I'm an advocate for as little police attention as possible. And judging by how you've described your driving style it appears you could benefit from a little less attention is all.

I agree with you completely. Although I do kinda enjoy having no plate, gets me out of speeding tickets. They just want the money/quota.

I live in a tiny island town in south jersey. The cops here are pricks with nothing to do. Cruise control at 4 over has been key, never get pulled for speeding there. I get pulled over on 55+mph roads mostly. When I have open space it's hard to not speed,100 feels like 60 and on the NJ Tpike 85 is a normal speed especially since they redid it.

I have a terrible habit of rushing to my destinations even when I have all the time in the world. I enjoy seeing how much time I can take off the nav hahah.. impatient bastard. And I enjoy adrenaline way too much...

I can relate on the "100 feels like 60". Quite a few times I caught myself going between 80-100 in my moms S6 when I thought I was cruising at 70.

Mines old as fuck but picks up everything, it even says "laser" whenever it goes off. Worst thing is how air traffic radaring isn't detectable

speed monitoring by aircraft isn't radar. They literally time you between marked distances on the highway and radio to officers on the ground.

The ride is just so smooth, stable, and powerful that you don't realize your speed until it's too late. Especially when you're blasting music going down an empty highway at night...

Yeah I figured that out after I got screamed at for going 80 on 93 north way back. My radar wasn't going off and the guy was already pulled over waiting for the call to get someone, damn staties.

Mines old but it sometimes says "LASER" as it goes off way more annoying than usual, it picked up staties today up north so I assume it's still gonna pickup any threatening signal from a cop.

My X is over 100k miles and still killing it. Can't wait to build the motor and dump all my money into it now that she isn't my daily anymore!

Time for some racecar stuff it sounds like, what's the daily now?

93 north to Boulder? or somewhere way out east? I know you can be screwed against a laser (night time at least), but detectors are not obsolete. Our problem is we have 2 good detectors but 3 vehicles, so you get used to having one but one car is always without...usually isn't hard to not speed in the truck though, it's a totally different driving experience. I've had a few close calls with a laser. Me and a guy from the nissan club were ripping down the freeway going well over 100 and my detector showed me I got hit with the laser but idk maybe he didn't know which one of us it was? I was definitely caught red handed but he didn't pursue. One other time I was ripping down the HOV going about 125 and I saw a cop ahead. That was the only time I was thankful to see my detector pick up a laser because I knew he did get me and it was working, but only after I slowed down a ton

Trabek needs one, or lives in a very small town and needs to move idk how you can get pulled over that many times and not lose your license. I managed to keep my license after 5 tickets in one year with the points system, but if you get popped 5 times in a week it seems like there's no way they wouldn't throw the book at you

I live in a small town with more small towns around, all the cops love booking speeding tickets since we can haul on the b roads and the main roads that should 50mph and not 40.

We have a 93 north here in NH, usually I see at least 1 statie but usually upwards of 10. Its the fastest way to all the good ski resorts in the white mountains but theyre always radaring people and will scream at you for going 10 over. Last time I remember my detector picking up the laser and not "ka" for a cop was when I was on our 93 and I came over a hill and a statie was out of his car pointing the laser at the cars like he was holding a gun. I just drive the limit on that road now, its worth it since they even have electric signs everywhere saying the 70mph limit is highly enforced. My detectors major issue is it easily picks up random signals that get me on edge driving, it sometimes picks it up in the same place but then goes away. Apparently a lot of new cars technology can fuck with them my dad says, like sensors on the doors or stuff like that.

Also a question for you as a fellow G owner, and for any mechanical minded people, my car is making a pulsating base noise from the right side (I wanna say front but not sure). It only happens on the highway 65 or above and last for a minute or so then goes away. Not too much vibration or pull but definitely a rotational noise. It literally sounds like a subwoofer pulsating and gets louder with speed. I'm thinking alignment or feathering tires it's just weird that it goes away after a minute or two.

You can check to make sure the wear is even on your tires, which will help let you know if you've got an alignment issue.

Sounds more to me like you have nothing more than a balancing issue.

So I got vanity plates for my infiniti approved, G3RSTY7. Do I go ahead and pull the trigger even though my wife will be embarassed to drive it apparently and also some would say more speeding tix?

Turns out it was a seized rear caliper. After doing some digging I found this is one of the most common issues on the G. Apparently they only last for like 20k miles...not very happy about that.

Vf43/sti tmic swapped it

How much was it to get it all done? I have an 04 and I have been wanting to do exactly this since I've owned it. I just feel like i'm going to be burning all my cash to get it done.

Bought the turbo for $500 0 miles on fresh rebuild. 220 for the tmic and I installed it with a buddy.

you might have mentioned previously, but what are you running for suspension?

I'm waiting for some wrx takeoffs to come in the mail that I'll be swapping my shitty racelands out for. Debating whether I wanna do lowering springs or just keep the stock wrx springs.

That color is beautiful, my brothers fiesta st is a similar color and my schools counselor use to have an X with almost the same blue as your 9

added exhaust tips, wrapped the rear reflectors, and picked up an mperformance rear diffuser. just ended its new vehicle warranty and im looking into a tune, chargepipe upgrade to run more boost, FMIC, downpipe, and a catback exhaust, dinan springs (because i have DHP) and shockware.

That's gonna be expensive. Sucks that German parts cost so much

itll be around 3k before install. To go FBO minus meth is around $1500 in parts including the tune. The exhaust im looking at is $1350. the springs are $350. I have adaptive suspension so i dont want to lose that. There have been sales on the dinan shockware too.

Fender is mismatched, paint on the overfender doesn't really match, but the whole car is getting wrapped when all the aero parts are done. Still have to get tires mounted on the new wheels, along with alignment and dialing in ride height and fitment. Lot of work left but I'm glad to finally have proper coilovers on as well as have the front overfenders done. Hoping to get the rear overfenders done some time this week. Between having 2 jobs and having a girlfriend, it makes for not so much free time lol

rMI5RG7.jpg

Trying to get coilovers on, rear strut bolts were stuck pretty bad. Managed to break the driver's side loose with a breaker bar. Passenger side wouldn't budge. After heating it with the torch and cranking, it started to loosen up. Until I found it was crossthreaded... after the nut that it screws into, which is welded to the LCA, snapped off the LCA. Finally got the nut off, and it not only snapped threads off, but it stripped a few, too. Couldn't get the bolt out. After drawing blood several times and breaking a handful of tools, i finally gave up, and now the mechanic is getting to deal with it. 2 steps forward, one step back. Won't get it back until next week, but once I get it, coilovers are going right on, and rear quarters are getting cut and getting the nutserts for the overfenders. Then time to dial in ride height, fitment, etc, then an alignment to even everything out and straighten out my steering wheel. Then in a few weeks, wrapping the car

Currently saving my lunch money to start doing what I want with it. Swapping out for black rims and black headlight rings. Going to debadge it at some point.

Once the warranty is out I'm putting in a magnaflow exhaust.

I still can't decide whether I want to keep it clean and maybe swap the mirrors and side scuttles out for bright yellow, or deck it out rally style (bull bar with driving lights, oversized mud flaps, etc)

Def get an exhaust, mini S's sound good stock. My brother has some mud flaps on his rallyx car from Europe they put on the full on rally cars, probably would look dope with white wheels and black mud flaps.

yup. you are going to have to post more pictures of that beauty. whats the suspension and wheel setup? BBS CHs?

Haha I can definitely do that! Right now she's pretty damn low on ST coilovers, not maxed out but i can't get a finger under any of the fenders which is how I like it. And for wheels she's on Rotiform NUE's 19x10 all the way around!

2005 Forester XT. 5 speed, heated leather, panoramic sunroof, etc. Picked it up for 5K in New Haven VT. 183,300 miles. The lady that had it before me was 60ish and the original owner. didn't beat on the engine but the exterior is dented and scraped up, and I don't think she ever cleaned the car. Detailed the interior myself so it looks a little better. Wax and polish is next. Gorilla flaps and a black grill is all I've done so far
