Do you make a good living at the salon?

Lol jk NA Miatas are sweet, I use to want one in my rwd fanboy phase

My hairdresser boyfriend actually bought me the car. It's causing a rift in our relationship though cause when I leave the top down in a parking lot, theres usually 2-3 gay dudes lounging in & around the Miata, doing mating calls and shit.

lol

In all seriousness, Im amazed at the number of girls who approach me in parking lots / streetlights saying how much they like it and think it's cute. And when I take a girl on a first date she LOVES it, so idk, Miatas breaking stereotypes??

That's actually awesome, using the stereotypical "chick car" to get girls. Aside from the mazdaspeed miata Id take one of these over the new ones.

MSM is awesome, cant imagine how fun a turbo NA would be. After owning this Miata for 1.5 years, I had an epiphany while driving last week. People always say its better to drive a slow car fast, and I never fully grasped that until I was driving wide open throttle, top down, skinny snow tires chirping as I rev matched out of a corner on a windy road. This car is so visceral, loud, and responsive, that you literally are driving it at nine tenths it's capability, feel like a race car driver, and you're only going 15 over the speed limit. My ears are ringing and my face is flushed by the time I get out lol You can row through the gears, banging red line each time, and reach fourth while doing 50mph. I do miss the feeling of being pushed into my seat in acceleration though

Picked up a brand new i3 a couple weeks ago. I work in the city, and drive a lot during the day. I can charge it for free at work, and there are no road tolls! Insurance is also relatively cheap.

Exactly, my brother has a 1992 eclipse GS which is fwd and NA and when he first got it and started learning how to work on cars he started to think he should sell it for the turbo awd version and build it for hp. Now hes just got a full exhaust, a short ram intake and just keeps the engine healthy and only does suspension. Hes got adjustable springs from an eclipse gsx in the back and some nice but used rally coils in the front along with front and rear strut tower braces and a rear sway bar. He uses it for rallycross and does well since hes not dealing with awd and turbo power so he can drive it and drive it very well without losing control, even on pavement he can haul through corners. People just go for whatever has big numbers and just drive down a straight road. Sure Id love an evo or sti but an NA front wheel drive hatch would be so damn fun since you can have a damn good time without excessive speed. Surely Id love to have a fast turbo'd car but for my next car it most likely be NA and maybe fwd although I prefer awd and rwd, fwd is the best platform for learning car control.

I absolutely love the new miatas, don't get me wrong, I would drive the shit out of a ND. But they don't have an ounce of character compared to the NA in my opinion. The ND looks damn good, but it's just another example of modern car manufacturers throwing every bit of aggressive styling that they can. Maybe it's just my dislike for current cars, but it just can't compare for me.

Yeah, there a no taxes on electric cars yet, so they're generally cheaper than regular cars.

I was close to getting a Tesla Model S, and have that as our only car, but decided to get the i3 instead. For longer trips I have an 2013 A4 Avant that i can use.

Whoa, some of you have got some crazy cars. My current ride is an '03 MG ZR, in trophy yellow. One of the last MG/ Rovers to be made. It's a small car, but taxes are high here for bigger cars. Handles great, original bucket seats, tweaked suspension and brakes, improved steering and stickshift off course. the car itself is mediocre british quality unfortunately.

Those things are sick

New rear billy hd shocks, stiff springs, fenders rolled a little, and new wheels are on. Need to get the front down a little.

Probably end up just chopping 1/2 a coil from the front until I can figure out coilovers for it

Bang, Bang.

No ricey mods; it's a hog and will remain so until people stop buying new mustangs thinking they're end all, be all, American bad ass.

Germany has taught me the magic of winter tires that being broke in the North East just never got across to me. But when we return to the states i'm really going to miss summer tires on the autobahn and terribly less restrictive tracks.

I used all seasons last winter and they were ok, they were more fun than my current snow tire but were still kinda shit. I got studded hakkapeliitta's this year for winter and when the east coast actually had snow, they killed it, I never really got to have fun in them but they just make everything so much easier than non winter tires.

Fuck that thing looks good though. Lol yeah have fun coming back to the America and our horrible car scene, where everything has to either drift, scrape everywhere or have high hp and be a 10 sec or less car. Put that thing into some racing, bring it to good tracks in the US if you can or just use it for stage rally

Jeez, calm down dudes it was a joke. I just though it was funny that someone would hope to be able to afford the quintessential affordable sports cars.

I fuckin love Evos and WRXs and my best friend drives a Legacy GT

I'm not offended whatsoever. :)

I'm just curious what are the prices of some good Evos or Imprezas in North America?

I can answer you right away why I hope to be able to get a car like that someday with a simple example: In Bulgaria the minimal salary is 246 USD, the average salary is about 410-470 USD (not sure). I made a quick search in a Bulgarian online platform for selling cars and the only result for an Evo 9 for sale was at a 22 330 USD cost. So I guess you can see the point I'm making. :)

Some decent Lancers or Imprezas start at the price of 9000 USD but still the salary/price ratio stays a bit big.

Im confused on your salary part but aside from that you can find solid wrx/sti's and evos (year/model depending) for as low as $10k, now an evo for that much isnt a good deal, itll most likely be in bad condition or have very high miles. But you can easily find a very clean evo 9 or 2007 sti for around $15k. It all depends on the year and model Id say, kids here sell their shitty 2003 wrxs for sometimes double what theyre worth because theyre a very popular car.

Haha I wouldn't say easily find a clean 9 for 15k maybe where you're from. But in Washington and Oregon a clean evo with less then 80k miles can sell any where from 22k to 25k and less then 60k they sell for like 24-30k the lower miles/cleaner they are. One with 50k would sell in a heart beat for 24k but anyways also the low mile 8s usually 05 sell for like 20-23k

The point I was trying to make is that the prices are really high when compared to the monthly salary you'd normally get in order to buy such a car. I don't know what the tendencies in your countries are.

he's saying the monthly salary average in bulgaria is ~450usd a month. Average salary in the US is 51k/year, or ~4000/month, ten times what it is in Bulgaria

So can you see now why an evo is a dream car and why your comment was rude?

Dont really see how I was rude...But any car can be a dream car to someone, an evo is certainly a dream car of mine considering Id take one over a GTR anyday. But yes I can see how its an actual dream car in this situation

That wasn't Titus' comment, dingus. And it wasn't that rude, I don't have to know Bulgaria's economic status to make a joke sbout evos
