Haha I was going to say it looks nothing like an el camino, but I guess it does look like the second gen ones, considering it was the rival of the Ranchero... we all know that the most badass el camino's are the Malibu styled 4th gens haha. Can you see me driving this? Because I sure can.

haha yeah it almost caught me for a second i had to look again like jmason..difference is all in hte b-pillar
looks solid though, definitely a fun project car
 
That's what caught me too. I thought it might have been a 67 camino as the B-pillar looks the same but the trim is in the wrong place that's why i had to take a second look haha.
I'm a fan of the ranchero.. should be a sick project. I must say thought that I'm more a fan of the el camino, mainly because my favorite car is a 1969 chevelle ss, and I love the similar styling from the el camino. The camino's went like hell too haha! Throw a 396 up front with no weight in the back... those things are death machines haha! Either that or go for a 454 in 1970... there's no replacement for displacement!

Coupe or rag top? If you go shopping for one this summer take me with you lol. There are some nice ones in the Toronto area.... I am a sucker for all chevy classics, but when I was looking at a 67 vette a few years ago (to replace the 84 that my tree crushed), I remember finding the manual steering and brakes rather unsettling... but damn they look nice.
 
67 is such a nice car. My dad used to have a 64 with a 365 in it and doug nash (sp?) tranny in it. I miss that car
 
You were looking for a vette? We've got a '65 Stingray in the garage. Underhood's a 396 with a Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4-spd, racing clutch, upgraded cams and exhaust! Goes like stink!
And coupe obviously. Only car that should be standard topless is a vette. Three top cars (in no order), 1969 Chevelle SS, 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner 426 Hemi, 1967 Corvette 427 tri-barrell.
 
Going to be driving this once I get my license. '97 Camry XLE. Not crazy about the look of it but that doesn't matter, I mean it has a v6 in it. Probably gonna throw on a thule ski rack and upgrade the stereo.

when you get the windows tinted make sure they take it all the way to the edge of the glass since they're frameless windows. On framed windows they can cheat and leave a little edge gap, but you will see that on impreza windows and it looks bad from the outside. ALso, before you start spending more money read up at nasioc.com
 
It didn't - it was our inspection of the frame that turned us away - it had been repaired (I suppose after being in an accident) slightly crooked, which offset the whole car. It was unfortunate because it was rather pretty... you know that metallic blue? We ended up with a slightly more practical (and more beastly), but less pretty, '93:

Unfortunately she has had her problems as well... had to replace the tranny and then someone smashed the passenger window to steal an empty backpack. We also need a new targa roof if anyone has one... someone didn't screw the other one on properly and it flew off on the highway LOL. Poor baby.

John -I think I saw those pics on fbook and drooled for hours. So jealous.
 
what does essentially the same car mean?

that's impressive as fuck if you have a wrx with 165k with no issues, and i think we can both agree that's not the norm lol.
 
Not really, there are tons of high mileage wrxs. It's not like in the factory they built turbo imprezas worse than the old legacys and outbacks with 300k driving around. Most issues come from the driver not the car. Aside from wear parts I've only had to replace a radiator.
 
stock wrxs/sti's don't generally have problems, it's the modded wrx's/stis.. that's where the headaches come.. i have first hand experience, if you plan to mod heavy hopefully you have another car when yours is on a lift, but not everyone's into modding so if youre not there's nothing really to worry about, they're reliable as fuck.
 
they are reliable if you are the first owner of it, but if you buy one used thats where you can get issues. I had a WRX that i bought from another teenager for a fair price and it was nothing but trouble. He fucked up the trans, my guess is that he didnt learn stick on another car, the engine kept overheating, most likely another learning to drive a standard issue, and somehow he warped the back of the frame. And of course these issues were apparent after the test drive and after i gave him the cash.
 
that's exactly why you don't buy used from a teen.. i would have never bought my car off a teen.. i'm glad i didn't
 
yeah it was stupid, but i new the kid i bought it from and he was reserved and laidback so i didnt think it would be trashed like that. live and learn i guess
 
Yeah I know that, people who think they know what they're doing can really fuck things up bad. My brother bought a 4runner with a home installed snorkel, apparently they never tested it and when he did a water crossing henwas fucked. The engine hydro locked up and had to pay what the car was worth to buy a new engine
 
modded car might not be so bad if you bought it from a genuine car nerd that did all the work themselves. if they said they had someone else do it, then they don't understand the labor involved and wouldn't feel obligated, because of the hours of hard work wrenching, to keep it maintained.

old people are also bad when it comes to german cars, because they expect it just to work, they don't understand how the car works and the upkeep invovled. then they are so over extended on there bills that they will run the car without regular maintenance for extended periods of time.
