Newschoolers is now Tumblr

Head on over to the thread in Site Discussion (www.newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/715861/) to let us know what you think guys!

I think it's awesome. For a second I was confused by it, but then I really really started to like it. To me, the skiing community is all about content, not just forum posts. For years, I personally never looked at the photo and video sections. Maybe I'm old, but I had better things to do than wade through a lot of crap. If I really wanted to see the best of the best content, I liked good content creators on Facebook and waited for it to show up in my feed. Even then, I felt like I was missing a lot.

Now I feel like I've got a great way to browse the best of NS. I'm already consuming a lot of content I would have otherwise missed. The guys are clearly being ambitious, staying ahead of the curve and I think it works. I'm excited about this change.

To be specific, its taking the best parts of Newschoolers, using the ranking math of Reddit, and then blatantly ripping off Pinterest.

Yeah... I was impressed that they managed to rip off so much of NS, and then actually steal the exact same idea as we had already planned. Shows good vision if you ask me. Poor judgement, but good vision.

welp this thread is on a one way route down the shitter... well, from the start it blew. Just leave if you don't like it.

Just like every other site that changes, people will hate it at first but then grow to love it. In fact I bet people will learn to love this so much that when Ns changes again everyone will talk about how much better this set up is

Happens every time.

The reason for this is that its impossible to see the big picture from only a few interactions with something. We've been planning this change for an extremely long time, and a very long set of goals lead up to it.

It fails miserably at the old goal of NS. So if you're thinking about the past... then yes it sucks. However, we are inventing a new future, so past success is irrelevant.

The math of reddit is the key. We have a couple more tweaks to roll out on the homepage that is going to make it work like magic.

What makes Reddit so good is it actually displays an accurate cross section of what the community considers 'good'. That is not easy to do.

Also people don't like change. They just want to stay with what they know and are comfortable with. I for one see how this will be great and fully support it

Yeah man... that is why we wanted to do this. Most of ski media has gotten too stale and fearful of change...

Time to change it up.
