Newschoolers in flash?

hey guys, im no html/java/flash guy, but i was thinking about something.

would it be possible to make the forums in flash> so it would update automatically as soon as someone replied in a thread, instead of refreshing the page? im just curious, i think it would be cool, but maybe too much information for it to handle?

if not, would it be possible to copy what facebook has for the picture session? where if you click left or right on the keyboard, it goes to the next image instantly? sorry if its a repost or a bad idea, i think it would be sick

It would work, but I hate that you'd need flash on a computer to see the forums... like I'm at school rigfht now and I couldn't use the site, and that would be bad

Especially since i use the back button on my mouse ALOT so it would just fuck everything up.

Doesn't need to be flash, I believe simply incorporating AJAX could add a lot of functionality to this site (including what you just mentioned). I'm no pro on web design, but I believe AJAX could allow new replies to automatically be shown, the number of replies to automatically refresh when you are lookng at the thread listing- perhaps even reorder threads - without you having to refresh the page manually.
