Heres the deal. My girlfriend has a pretty horrible roommate. She steals everyone's food, toilet paper, shampoo, laundry detergent, and other stuff. She took a bunch of condoms out of one girl's closet and opened some dvds that were supposed to be gifts.

A few weeks ago, my girlfriends Internet stopped working. She asked the girl in question for the account number so she could call Comcast and find out what was wrong. The girl just said "Oh I'll take care of it". A few days later another roommate said that she had just canceled it because one of their neighbors had unprotected wireless so why pay for it.

The neighbors recently put a password on their router and thats no longer an option. My girlfriend, tired of not having Internet calls up comcast so she can order internet because its pretty necessary as a college student. It turns out, the girl didn't cancel it, she just never paid any of the bills so comcast shut them down. Not only did she not pay the cable/internet bill, she didn't pay the electric bill until my girlfriend saw the overdue notice in the mail, and today my girlfriend found an overdue notice for their water bill. By the way, this girl has been asking her roommates for money for these bills she isn't paying.

Some more background on this girl, she's a Division 1 college athlete on a full scholarship, so money isn't a problem for her.

What should we do?

options:

call her parents

confront and try to give her a wake up call

tell the university to get her scholarship messed up, they usually have some strict policies

complain to the landlord

move out asap

or, kill her. i felt it isn't a proper NS advice reply without something like that.

 
This is definitely a matter of sitting her down and "calling her out" in the nicest way possible. Confrontation always leads to people going on the defense...so be ready for that. But she needs to grow up and take some responsibility for her actions. She sounds like an uncaring bitch. Give her an ultimatum...pay the bills and get caught back up, quit using her friends, and to start acting like a grown up - or - she can be gone. There's no reason for the whole house to be stressed over someone who doesn't give a shit about them. Show her whats it like to uncared for...
 
how did a d1 college athlete room with a normal person? athletes get super nice dorms and what not...

and just because shes on scholarship doesn't mean she has money...
 
definitely either call her out or do something drastic.

let her know you know whats up.

and then switch her shampoo with hair removal gel or something fucking funny.. get your message across haha

call the fucking NCAA and tell them shes been stealing and all that. ruin this cunts like. she doesnt deserve what she's got
 
haha. Or just move your everything on her side of the room closer and closer everyday until you have taken over the whole room.

And kick her sport uniform as well as other valubes hold them ransom till she repays you... (this could become serious, ie cops getting involved and such) But give it a try!
 
It may be hard but you either have to move out or sit down and have a talk with the girl. All the roommates need to talk and no one else. I had that happen to me a few years ago and that is what we all did. It worked for the best, just talk to the roommate about it. If that goes nowhere, then move out.
 
If she could just move out, she would. The landlord isn't going to let her break the lease just because her roommate is shitty. Talking to her hasn't worked so far, although there hasn't been a super awkward intervention type sitdown with her yet.
