instead of constantly reposting shit from over a year ago, you guys should feature new content that hasn't received much attention yet. i understand that things get slow in the summer and reposts may be necessary, but there is no reason i should find myself--in the middle of winter--clicking links you post to facebook only to realize it's the same fucking candide thovex edit i watched two years ago. i'm out this bitch

and don't you dare move this to site discussion

Wait, why? That is the purpose of site discussion. To discuss stuff about the site.

Do you want it in SG so more people see it? I can understand that but it defeats the purpose of having a ski discussion only forum. I'd be hypocritical if I said I hadn't violated the same rule a few times for the same reason however - but that is a totally other discussion where we consider that the modern forum should be non filtered and totally flat with all topics in. Start another thread on that if you feel that is the direction you want to go.

As for your initial gripe - I do get what your frustration is. I'll add a point you missed though - which is that the Facebook algorithm basically ignores the kind of stuff you want to be "featured".

For the last two years we have been posting almost every single new edit that got above a very low threshold of votes on Facebook. We wanted to highlight all of that stuff.

Problem is - your average Facebook user doesn't give a shit. We were met with rapidly declining Facebook traction, and constant complaints that we "posted too many average garbage edits". Facebook completely relies on fans liking and sharing things that go up there to show them to more people, and without that whether or not we post it is pretty irrelevant.

Its basically the same problem with the main stream media and "fake news". Unless something really gets people's jimmies rustled, it just tanks into oblivion on Facebook. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure that we have yet figured out a solution.

Is is there a specific video you're referencing that got skipped due to the old Candide video you're talking about?

if so - I'm perfectly happy to run a transparent experiment here with you. Give me a link to a video which you think we should have highlighted - and we didn't - and we'll post it at a good time.

Ill then post some stats on how the traction went.

That way, at least we can have a quality discussion using facts.

To go back to what Doug said, I've said this time and time again to our team: our general FB audience "usually" doesn't give a flying fuck about 90% of you guys uploading edits unless you do something along the lines of "OMG CRAZY SKIER DOES CRAZY STUNTS" and that's the honest truth. Now, that's not to say I will only ever post edits on the FB page that are from a "pro". I'm just more selective in that regard. Please ask me more questions/clarifications because I'm more than willing to explain shit.

I'd love to hear more feedback from you guys and have an open discussion about it. This should probably be moved to the content contributors forum.

We we want to highlight the great stuff happening in the video section, but at the same time Facebook is a cold hard Bitch.
