Newschool Waterskiing?

This came to me in a dream. Like doing tricks on water skis and doing all the rails the wakeboarders do. Cheap summer and no lift lines hahaha. Lets see if we can start something with a new sport.

It came to me in a dream too. 2 years ago. Which is when i started doing it. The rope makes things a tad difficult... but you can do the same kind of things as wakeboarders. Lincolns are mad easy. You need a pole, though.

i dont understand the whole rails on water thing. then again they make about as much sense as rails on snow, so who am i to complain.

i tried at the begininning of the year, teh wake was tiny... it was hilarious. i did 3/4 of a lincoln and 1/2 of a backflip... it was awesome... i gotta try again.

i've been waterskiing since i was really little and i just can't figure out how you'd do tricks on them cuz you just don't have any ankle support or anything and the fact that they are so unresponsive. all i could ever do was a little jumping and that was really weak. so if you have any vids of shit you've done on skis post it i bet its sick as hell

they have trick water skis, they are a lot like skiboards only much wider. I havent seen anyone really use they because it is hard to get enough speed going to the wake with two water skis on your feet. Thats why waterskiers use one ski. Its not cheap either because boats cost as much as cars and then you have to get a slip on a dock which is usually a wait list and then you got to get a trailor. just wakeboard

 
ive been waterskiing for the last three years, not competitive, just dicking around with my friends but weve gotten pretty good

i tried those trick skis once, and their definately not that good. They feel like powder snowblades look, and its just not that good

on a single slalom waterski, if you hold the rope behind your back with your oposite hand (if your going left to right over the wake, hold the rope behind your back with your RIGHT hand)

pop and pull the rope, and u can spin a three...it wont be high, but thats as much NEWSCHOOL watersking as ive ever seen

I do a lot of waterskiing and barefooting at the camp I go to, and they have a shed full of old ass waterskis, so I know ny shit when it comes to old ass waterskis. I say old ass waterskis because the trick waterskis you speak of were big in the seventies. those skis aren't good for airs, or anyting 'newschool' for that matter... think of it this way: trick skiing in the seventies was ski ballet, trick waterskiing in the seventies was waterski ballet. It's funny, because all you can do are gay ass on-water spins and twirley-doo's.

ive dreamed about this too lie thinking about spinning and stuff but when i was about to do it id never get enough air to come even close to spining a 3

its a bit harder to get air on skis than a board because on a board you naturally face the wake

the best way would be to bend up the racing waterskis becuase then you still have some length like real skis and you can cut into the wake faster. it'd be sooo pimp to do and also, the wake is sometimes small but if you get a huge hug bag which is a bag that you fill with water..it weighs the back of the boat down more for a higher wake. we use that for wakeboarding and you boost alot higher.

that would be tight, you would have to make them short and wider with tipped up edges all around the whole ski..so it looks likea bowl almost

 
i had a pair of hyperlyte twin skis..... they were really realy squirly.... but sweet asss.... but now are gone foreva since my fredin did not lock up his boat and some guy jacked everthing...... including the screw.....

you could probably do a three on a good slolom waterski, because they can cut really fast (faster than a wakeboard), and some of them have boots...

threes on slalom skis arent THAT hard, i have a 168 Connelly F1 with double wraps and 3 outve 5 times i can get the three around

I just use little skis for tricks, they float well and they're light. They're about 150cm. I'd post pics, but my digicam is somewhere... not here.

Wakeboard Wakeboard Wakeboard its the shit in water you are talkin alot of different physical factors! Water skis are alot different than ares the have a reverse sidecut and what not! SO buy a wakeboard and u will tear shit up!

I started out water skiing, and once I got it down went to slalom skiing. Once that got old I started to see if i could get any decent air, but it just doesn't work on the water when you actually want to use the wake for jumping, and nobody wants to build any floating ramps.

I ditched the water skis and got a wakeboard, and I was glad I did it as soon as I did. I suggest anyone still skiing around the lake during the summer to do the same! There's just no potential in water skiing, and its so much different that snow skiing.

I just got my wake-to-wake jumps down last summer and I'm starting to work on the 180's too. I had a massive wipeout just last Monday after I caught my heelside edge, and I smacked the back of my head so bad...

 
wake boarding is pretty cool... they should make freakin crazy water skis... except i cant even waterski... when i tried i just got a whole bunch of water bounding against my nuts and water going up my nose
