It looks like the gap is closing up between the two. Im seeing less and less style lately, in sacrifce for big spins and flips. You kids gotta keep it real and style shit up. Otherwise theyre just gonna put some rails into an aerial course, and this sport is done.

freeskiing is getting more and more sylish. People were more like airialists back in 99 with CR and the Schrabs doing 1440's.

I think we're headed in the right direction, there is always going to be a similarity, especially in big air events but if you look at the video segments they are getting away from the big spins and doing slow stylie tricks instead

 
I havn't seen anything less than a 900 at a big air event in any of the clips from this years movies.

on the freestyle team, we do a lot of aerial jumps and 'oldschool' shit, but we also do rails, tabletops, and jibs in the park, and you can throw a lot of newschool stuff off the aerial kickers, you just have to get used to them.

my evidence for saying that they are moving apart is just what people look for. obviously you get props for doing a tough trick, but people are always critquing your steez.

also, tanner's interview with freeskiing: 'I’ve talked to Simon Dumont, Jon Olsson and the guys who are leading the comp scene about this stuff. It’s all about being smooth and bringing out good style on both sides. Being able to look good spinning both ways on jumps, rails and in the pipe, you know. But big air is basically a junk show and is always going to be about spinning hard.'

just an opinion but I didn't think the wilsonflip was stylie at all. what was stylie was Jon throwing switch cork ten.

 
who the fuck cares man...its great to see the sport progressing and all that shit, but the one thing i dont want it to become is the thing that everyone does just because its so progressive and different. soon enough freeskiing will be as big as say skateboarding or something and absolutely everyone will do it, and it will kinda take away the coolness of it. i like being original, and i dont have anyting against skateboarding or anything, i just guess im afraid that newschool is going to turn into something that everyone does just to be different. i dunno, whatever.

I used to do crack. I still do, but i used to too.

freeskier 108, before you talk shit you should consider the fact that anyone on the US aerial team could kick you ass in any bigair comp, and would be a million times stylier than you. Plus style is all opinion, if by style you mean smooth, then i agree, but if you actually watch the double underflip you'll see a) its off axis b) I grabbed twice, once in each flip with opposite hands c) I didn't flail at all, and was smooth the whole way through, and d) its a million times more technical than any trick you'll ever be able to do. Just because you cant do a 720 doesn't mean that your smooth 360 is better, I give props to whoever is pushing themselves even if their not pushing the sport.

 
mickael's switch 10 at usfo last year looked nothing like aerials... and it was a 10

plus just cuz hes going bigger with a sick trick doesnt mean hes in aerials....plus u cant say spin/flip tricks have to stop at a certain point becuase there 'too big and look like an aerial manuever'

yeah i dont know wtf u r talking about, compare Wski and X=Ten to The Game and tell me wuts more stylie aboiut old stuff. Then go to a park and look around there are more kids with style than 2 years ago, two years ago i saww MAYBE one skier a day even complete an S rail. now there r skiers doin ne kind of rail w/ loads of style.

so should big mountain riders quit hucking big cliffs cuz they dont have style? no because there is always the balls tho the wall factor if everybody 3 years ago just did 720s and worked on style then spins wouldnt go past 720 yes style is important but eventualy there wil be big spins with mad style it takes time
