I just found a crazy ps2 emulator for macs

it's called ps2 blue, it's dope-

but >? i've never played sad tricks.....

If they can make good bmx games of course they could make good ski games....

if they gave us the game engine to work with we could even make an independent downloadable version....

i brought it back because im emailing my post to a company about a new game....anyone have ideas about who to send it to..ea sports maybe they have killer graphics..like the shit they made for nba live 2003 and medal of honor:front line..those graphics are sick...ya think they would do a joint project thing with ns.com?and i need someone to look back a ways and count the number of different posts about how much JMMT sucked balls and how we need a new game....heres the post

for the lasy people..lots of skiiers on the game..pick one! each having their own special attributes like rails,jumps,pipe,park,big mountain,speed, and on and on winning a comp or getting a good score gives you a couple more attirbutes which you can add to wherever you need it..or want it..you save your character with these attributes (they can be pros or a local)every once in a while theres a competition..modeled after real comps..red bull,mega muther hucker,x games..with sponsors and can get prizes skis gear and money from the sponsors of the comp..and there would be slope style,pipe runs,big mountain, and others,..ALL MOUNTAINS are authentic and detailed..because who the fuck wants to ski in downtown san fransisco again,and when you beat everything you can use the build a mountain or build a park feature with new rails and hits..kind of like what they did with matt hoffmans pro BMX...hows that

and i was also thinking of like a franchise mode thing where you own the mountain maybe and try to attract different skiiers and you build the park and backcountry shit clifs..kind of like the idea behind ski resort tycoon only really cool.

I think that a few people should email a company, or a variety of companies, and whoever goes for it, goes for it, but make sure that some of us can test it out, to give some critique on it. Also, if you are going to send them something, give them the link to this site the URL.

Tell them they should read the whole thread and get some ideas.

 
ok five0 ur idea is great but if you do email them or anything put in a career mode where you can start from scratch cuz that is like the best part. Thats my 2 cents. GReat idea though

I say that it should be similar to the Tony Hawk series...that you should have the top skiers and they should have levels about how good they are at each discipline...Dave Crighton and Jon Olsson would have a 9 out of 10 in pipe, while Seth Morrison would have a 2 out of 10...get it, and vice versa. And you would be able to do their own signature tricks, CR=bio1260, Dave Crithon=HUGE Flatspin 540 whatever grab

It should have three modes...big mountain, urban, and park, you should be able to ski real mountains, real urban areas, and real terrain parks including fantasy terrain places...ya know parks that are 15 miles long.

It should be a realistic game, (with cheats if wanted). ya know no grinding the Golden Gate bridge in the middle of July!

Then you should be able to choose real gear and clothes...lets say you want Jon Olsson and you hate Head skis then you could pick him then pick Salomon boots and bindings and Rossi skis, and if you hate Oakley clothing (i dont) then you could outfit him in Helly Hansen shit. And if you hate Oakley Googles then you could pick Spy googles...or whatever.

Then you start out with a little money to enter comps...then when you win you could do bigger events...and they should be real events, like you can only enter X-Games after qualifing for them, and they should be real contests...the WSI, the US Open, the X-Games...etc.

Then once you are coming up in the freeskiing world you can get sponsors then you get better skis without having to buy them, same with gear, entrance money to comps...etc

Then comes the best part you should be able to create your own skier, tricks, and terrain park. So you could create yourself with your dream setup, and make your dream rail/jump setups. This is the best part...you should be able to create your own tricks...ya know (this is the trick i made up in my head) you start into a flatspin and then at 180 you pull out and start spinning bio...etc whatever you want.

You should be able to play online...sessions parks with other skiers, and if you want just get a session going with only your friends you can setup a LAN (Local Area Network) game...etc.

You should also be able to pick from a wide range of music what kind of stuff you want to listen to while playing the game.

whatever thats what i would want...

o yea make it available for every system..PS2, X-Box and Gamecube.

Great ideas, but to get a ski game some part of the ski industry would need to get involved. MSP or Poorboyz or Freeze should get involved, spend some time/ money with a THPS company of the makers of Amped, and get this actually going. Who ever said make an Amped with skis that's the right way to go. It's practically all there, except with that as a foundation you could incorporate all the other ideas people have offered.

Large companies like MSP, Freeze, Poorboyz have been in the industry enough to offer help and funds.

 
here's my dream. Activision, the makers of THPS, make a skiing game. Idealy modeled after a pro, like mike douglas, or jon olsson, hopefully either of those. But since it's gotta sell they'd prolly go with tanner hall, more popular name...

i don't know why everyone thinks that the pro needs to be recognizable to the public to headline the game... it doesn't matter. do you think the general public knows who Shaun Murray is? or any pro wake-boarders for that matter? well, it doesn't matter, because they made 'Shaun Murray's Pro Wakeboarder' anyways. Most people probably had no idea who Matt Hoffman was either, before his game. (except bmx people.) So, basically, it doesn't matter... Tanner Hall Pro Skier, or Jon Olsson Pro Skier, or anyone else, if it's a good game, its gonna sell.

and if i had to make a prediction, i'd say that if activision made a skiing game, it'd be 'Candide Thovex's Pro Skier.' Just an educated guess based on all the quicksilver logos on the activision site, and the fact that 2 other quiksilver athelets have games by them (kelly slater, and tony hawk.) money talks, and the right sponser will get you alot of places.

all great ideas boys. If you really think about if they can make a bmx game a surfing game a skateboarding game and a snowboarding game all modeled off of each other they could definiately make a ski game. They went from skating to biking to boarding to surfing. skating to biking??? yah they could definately go to skis. we just gotta let them know how worth their while it would be to make this game.

 
i think that if they named the ski game after a pro skier it should be Tanner Hall because he is the person who ESPN picked to be on their X-Games commercial, sure Jon Olsson won more medals than any other skier they still picked Tanner, so they (ESPN) thinks that he has a good image. Either that, although i hate him, Jonny Moesley might be an alright choice since he is no question the most known skier to the uneducated public...aka people in Florida and Lousiana who dont ski. But if I was creating the game it would be Vinnie, JP, or JF because they were the REAL inovators of our sport. Whatever thats what I think.

We just need to convince the companies that it would be financially beneficial to simply replace the player models in their top snowboarding games with skiers... the physics, levels, etc... could all be the same but the gameplay would appeal to us 10x more than riding boards. Eh?

It would take no more than a few weeks for them to render a few models for skiers, skin them as diff pros, and BOOM.

I'm sure lots of people didn't know who Tony Hawk was, or Matt Hoffman. They will soon learn Tanner Hall. I think they need a pro, that way they get watching for someone.

 
Has anyone played amped on xbox? It should be just like that, except skiing, or maybe... not sure if snowboarders (or skiers) are ready for it, but what if there was a game where you could do both? WOW

 
Yeah, I have no problem playing amped. That's my favorite game, even though I beat it like a year ago, it's still great. If there was a game like amped with skiing... aww that'd be nice

To answer previous posts, JMMT 2 is gone forever. The lead developper has left 3DO to pursue bigger and better things.

I'm curious as to why everyone is so pumped to pose as someone else..

What if you could play a game where YOU were the star.. and you competed and progressed. Jon Doe Pro Skier.

a skiing game would be so fucking easy to make too!!

All they would have to do is use the environments and physics from snowboard games and the basic skeletons from a fruit boot game and then all that's left is the interface and controls and the animations and models for the characters...

It would probably cost Activision less than 50 or 60 grand to release a beta version and then all they need is a sponsor to fund the actual making of the game (like putting it on discs), and I'm sure every ski company would not even hesitate about it for a second! That's a lot of cheap advertising!

dang guys this may actually happen. Do you think we culd get some more support from like getboards, Freeskier n stuff? that might make Activision n stuff more happy. Also someone should post a petition for the making of the game, if that helps

aight... in amped2 snowboarders move,grab, spin and rail so smooth. THUGs park editor is pretty good, but i dont like that 'rail-tool', rails dont go straight(or i suck)...

'Urban-mode' would be so cool too, you would go to some city(or town, village ect.) find a rail or jib and go and build a ramp and kicker, bust it out and then watch it from videotape.(you could move the cameraman, as someone said before)

as in THUG this game would also have the 'story-mode'. you start from little hill with your friends, crappy skis and no money. train yourself and go to local ski contest, win it and buy a videocamera(or basic stillcamera) with your friends, nail some tricks to tape, then send it to Freeze's 'videocontest' or Salomon, Rossignol... be invited to some amateur contest and get sponsored... finally you notice your a pro with your promodel.

5 events, Park(slopestyle), big air, pipe, big mountain(cliffs and bc jumps) and urban. you could edit and create all those with park editor.

Creathing all this could be impossible, but i have a dream.

Someone create that adress so we can sign it!

rather than jsut an urban mode, what about like a session mode. you go to a city, pick a spot, session, film, and sent to video comajnies. i know, however, that it would all matter on the points in session mode, and taht would be the whole point. just ideas, just ideas. one of thses days, someone is going to finally quit being lazy, and draft a proposal

I can do all the 3d modelling and physics engine no problem, I just can't do the D3D or OpenGL interface. If we each did a part then it would get finished pretty quickly
