I'm new to the sport. (newschool, not skiing) And i was wondering if i could get any tips. I view myself as a pretty good skier overall but i need to start doing tricks.

start doin grabs, 180's, 360's and shit like that...ski big hits, ride the pipe, and start gettin used to rails. its all progression from there.

Switch's got it right. just start out with the small stuff. hit a few rails, big air, grabs, and work on your spins. don't get mad if you mess up cause it takes a while to learn a new trick. Oh yeah, if your skis don't allow you to land switch, skip the 180's and the 540's. Peace man

WA skiers are cool. I'm a WA skier. I'm cool. You know, Washington apples are cool too. . .

get some twins and start doing 180s, regular and fakie, natural and unnatural, once you get those down start adding half rotations (do these of small jumps first). practice your grabs on the big hits. try small straight rails,(make sure theyr'e short so you dont nut yourself cause it sucks). have somebody who's good show you how to drop into the pipe and practice boosting out.

get on a trampoline and start learning your basic inverts (frontflip backflip and sideflip). the biggest hump in my progression was getting the balls to do these on snow.

THE SPRINKLER: get butt naked and then do a 1260 while taking a piss, i expect this trick to win many comps this coming season.

tru dat...i say once you got big, smooth 3's down you can try backflips...they are mad easy. front flips are a little harder, but it is a lot like doin it on a tramp or divin board.

thanks, i already have twins (Dynastar) and i think that my big problem is getting the balls to get the air.

hey man, start small, but you gotta keep pushing your comfort zone, that's the real key

buy all the new gear you can find and you will automatically be a pro....just kidding....just a little humor from another thread(I hate newschool thread) posted by some idiot. These guys have given you some good tips. Its all progression, the keys facots in jumping and rails is the same as in skiing. It has a lot to do with your head up and hands out in front. You should really work on the way you pop off the lip of the jump. This will set the standard for all other jumps and tricks you will learn. You don't want to be looking at the ground when you take off etc. Good luck

start small with grabs and 180 or 360. then just move up in size of hit and style... try imverted some time in the backcountry and go from there

My advice is to ride with some people who already know their stuff. It helps a lot when you mess something up and your buddies can tell you why and help you figure it out. If you can't find people who'll let you ride with 'em... then just try and one up your buddies... friendly competition always has (and still does) helped me.

good advice k2pimp...i'd add like another person did that it helps to watch and ski with people who are better than you..

watch ski movies and look at how the pro use their arms, head and stuff like that and just try to mimic it. I try all things (inverts) off a diving board first. It gets it so you are comfortable spinning without the thought of landing on an icy landing. Its all about progression.

if you can try to do everything into powder to save yourself from bad injuries, even try 1's and 5's into powder just so you can get the jist of things

just remember its all about the corks...!!!! oh ya and dont kill yourself on the first day out ahahah....

TRY EVERYTHING EVEN IF IT MEANS, KICKING YOUR OWN ASS

uh, your stupid in that sense... trying stuff you dont know or cant do, you can and probably will get injured, im gonna say this too, start off small, powder is bet, and just get used to the whole thing, then you can try new things
