New Zealand

I am seriously contemplating doing this for my summer vacation and I have the go-ahead from my parents just as long as the bottom line is black and I have some cash for school. I was thinking about doing snowmaking at ruapehu but then again I have no idea. are the any NSers out there who have done this and can give me some advice on where to start and what mountains are sick and what I can do about a place to live and what are good jobs. I was thinking about doing the nokia extremes and/or the NZO so I guess I'm looking for a mountain where I can do some Big Mountain stuff. I would prefer to hear responses from people who have done the new zealand thing before and can give me first hand advice or people who can refer me to someone who has done it.

Thanks.

i went to snowpark last summer, sooooooooo sick. they have a sick park, and everyone is super chill. lots of asians rolling their own cigarettes though. one piece of advice:
Dont eat the McGregor meat pies. they suck and the meat is fake.

you fly to queenstown, you drive to wanaka, you rent something, you hitch to snowpark everyday for amazing park fun. every other day you hitch to treble cone and get gnarly.

you get a job at new world stocking tomato sauce, and a job at snack shack so you can eat and smell like snack chack... all the girls will follow you around thinking you are food, and eat you all night long, you ride like crazy, and win a whole bunch of cash and stuff, come home and have shredded like 50 more days than anyone and its only october 10th.

sound good?

hahaha, if you were gonna work snowmaking at turoa you would work for my dad.

Ruapehus the only mountain in the north, except for a little clubby on the coast. Turoa is unbeaten when its on, but trust me, thats not real often. aparantly our mountain could be compared to hood or bachelor or something?

Its good, but im gonna go south next season, havent done it before so im outta here and what i wanna do is ride snow park and TC when its on

i wanna do the same thing dude, but apparently you gotta be there by mid june at the latest to get set up and be trained pre-season. i have exams at that time, so its touch and go as to whether i can go. ill be so bummed if i cant go this year. always next year i spose.

anyone know good resorts to work at?

me and 2 friends are definately heading out, we should really make a cult or something? you guy's all seem sound with similar ideas as what i want to do! im in my last year of college, looking to go out from july for a few months. whats living costs like over there? thanks

^if you want a job dude, gotta apply from early march, and you gotta be there by mid june at the latest according to the resort i e-mailed.

definitely want to go though, looks amazing

well im considering working over the next 6 months, plus the money i already have, in order to maybe ski bum it if i have to, and just get what ever cheap ass job comes along if there is one. Where abouts you thinking of going?i cant really get out for mid june i think, A levels! gutted

^yeah same as. fuckin a-levels, what a twat!

been looking at treble cone mainly. cant afford to ski bum it!

im going to france in november anyways, so even if i cant go this year, it will happen!

where u looking at going?

basing our selves in queenstown probably, and buying a shit car out there (actually really cheap) and getting like a pass covering the surrounding area. i really wanna check out mt hutt and snow park out of wanaka aswell though!il see if i can get a job in the town. and yeah im gonna take a season aswell! not sure where yet though! really fancy canada!where you looking at goin?

ye im about 20 minutes out of manc, live near ski rossendale if you know it. Yeah i couldn't make it to that one, but i normally coach with pat and woodsy etc.

check out some real estate websites on google or somethin? i did a bit ago, if you go out of town you can get them miles cheaper obviously, sorry cant remember the exact quotes! but one thing, many demand that you go for a viewing before putting down the money, as they like to get a impression of whos renting there flat kind of thing.
