Long range forecast/ discussion...Dec 28 - Dec 31

Snow is again possible into next Wednesday and Thursday as a series of systems may pass through, we will watch and see if heavy snow may again be possible. High pressure late next week with more snow possibly returning for New Years or the day after, on through the first several days of January. It is pretty likely we will be seeing some heavy snow in this pattern as a longer 'fetch' develops across the Pacific after the first...we will watch and see, + hope for heavy snow. CM.

There saying its going to better then last years new year storm in tahoe!!!!!!!!!!

heres the current as of Christmas Eve---I see deep faceshots in my future.

New Years resolution- keep it steep and deep.

... A couple of storm systems from the Gulf of Alaska to affect the

Sierra and western Nevada between Sunday and new years...

The first storm system is expected to drop southward from off the

Oregon coast Sunday to off the central California coast by Monday

afternoon. The storm will rotate off of the California coast into

Wednesday... with intermittent periods of snow expected in the

Sierra. At this time... the most significant snowfall is expected

south of Lake Tahoe. As the storm ejects inland Tuesday night and

Wednesday... some accumulating snow above 5000 feet may spill over in

western Nevada.

The second... much more potent storm is likely to affect the region

starting Thursday. This very cold storm system is projected to slowly

move down the Pacific northwest coast through Friday. This storm is

likely to produce very significant snowfall in the Sierra... and has

the potential to produce large snow accumulations in western Nevada

valleys as well.

New update-as of christmas DAY. Its a long one so ill cut to the good part---

As tears come to my eyes...ENJOY!

The main storm of concern is expected to dive south from the Gulf

of Alaska and be centered west of Vancouver... British Columbia by

Thursday morning... before slowly rotating south along the Pacific

northwest coast through Friday night. The expected progression of

this storm matches closely the pattern of previous significant snow

events in the Sierra and western Nevada. This storm has the

potential to dump more than 3 feet of snow in the Sierra... with a

foot or more in the valleys of western Nevada. Additionally...

treacherous driving conditions... with gusty winds and heavy

snow... may accompany the storm across the Sierra Thursday and

Friday... including Interstate 80 over Donner Summit.
