New X-Games Event

you're still young. i dont expect you to really understand how much of an idiot you sound. let me help you out here....

youre pissed because rollerblading is out. but instead of accepting the fact that rollerblading was really fucking lame to watch to most of the viewers, you blame the fact that there are other events... and go as far as blaming an event that got no air time and was just for show. face it, as cool as blading was, it was fucking lame to watch people tuck up in a dick-like tube and spin as fast as possible. cant argue with ratings. but again, youre still a kid and kids are fucking retards. its science.

I agree. but have you looked at the size of that thing and actually thought about hitting it? I mean, if you tried some kinda crazy flip or whatever, and you smashed into the upside of the landing, you would fall like 50 feet to pavement. youd proly die. They should have a best crash contest!!!!!

THANK YOU! steezus christ...i can't stand watching "high jump" or whatever the hell its called.

You still have the link to that movie? I remember seeing the trailer a while back and it looked like a good watch.

Full thoughts:

1. Big Air is sick. If you think a 360 over that gap is lame on a 31 inch board that's not attached to your feet--while the skater is in full body armor, might I add--then you sack up and do something bigger. It will progress.

2. If the FMX guys did the kind of tricks in regular freestyle competition that were seen in best trick, I might watch. As of now, it's like, "Woo, another backflip, and this time he stuck his feet out! Let's see it in MMMEEEGGGA-MMOOOOO." But I guess that's what progression is all about.

3. BMX never ceases to impress me. No-handed cork 7 over a 50-foot gap? Nuts. But they do need to get over the flair. I think that if no handed cork 7s and dub fronts are being thrown, somebody can come up with something more original on the big-ass QP.

4. Rolling is sick in the gnarly-ass spots that they find in those edits that asian-allen puts up all the time, but you know that it would suck in the x-games spotlight. Vert was always pretty stupid: "Oh look! The little Japanese guy did a 27-foot high 1800! Six times in a row!" Maybe street would be cool, but honestly, I think rollers are used to way bigger features than what are offered in the street course. But I'm no roller, so I'm not one to say.

5. I've always hated watching surfing. It's kind of like moto-x best whip: a bunch of people doing the same thing over and over again. It's an awesome sport, and one that I'd love to learn to do, but not one that's going to attract a national audience.

6. X Games should take a tip or two from the Dew Tour and especially the Maloof Money Cup.

7. Vert skaters are sick and tired of the plain old pipe with no interesting features in it. CHANGE IT SO WE CAN SEE WHAT THEY CAN ACTUALLY DO.

so i guess a replay of bmx vert is on right now, and it seems that everyone only spins in one direction? jamie bestwick is in first place right now, and from what i could tell, every trick he did was to the right. i don't bmx, so i don't really know how difficult it is, but skiing, snowboarding, and rollerblading, you've pretty much got to have all 4 spins to be a contender at the xgames level.

Asian_allen, i have to say you are a tool. You talk so much shit and act like you know everything when a lot of times you sound like an idiot. Your sponsored and stuff but make your sponsors look bad thats for damn sure for sponsoring an asshole like yourself.

When you understand business come back at me. Rollerblading's industry is in it's current state due to the fact that many people don't do it anymore when compared to other sports. Rollerblading isn't making any money for the xgames unlike skateboarding and motocross IE the reason it was taken out. The market size of aggressive inline compared to skateboarding and motocross is tiny.

I didn't bash inline at all..I said some of the stuff they did was hard, but I guess you can't read things fully. When compared to xgames sports it's about what makes money and what is popular. Obviously inline isn't either right now. Back in the mid 90's to early 00's it was but with the ever increasing popularity of motocross, bmx and skateboarding, rollerbladings popularity has diminished.

Decade old marketing? It's called what sells and what doesn't..In the end its all about the profit, money earned and whats in. Not decade old marketing, its business.

i think inliners would kill it on the mega ramp. throwin flip combos and bigger spins. lot better shit that skateboards are pullin

alright I might be young but at least I understand basic sentence structure. How much of an idiot I sound? read that over a couple times with a dictionary and a friend and you will realise how much of an idiot you sound.... LIKE.

now on me being pissed blading is out. I dont even rollerblade so I dont realy mind any more than the next guy. it got taken out because it became cool to say that blading was gay so x games didnt want that in their image.

calling me a stupid young kid because I dont have the same tastes as you is fucking hilarious. I am not offended just amused at how seriously you take yourself. thanks for telling me I suck for my personal prefrences, this added a lot to the thread.

do us a favor and GTFO! your not adding anything except making a fool out of yourself

line didnt pick up allen for him to post on an internet forum they sponsored him to ski...dont judge a company based on what their riders post on NS it has no base whatsoever

exactly. sponsored athletes should remember they're receiving compensation to represent their brand positively. I think for a sponsored skier ns is one of the most important places to be conscientious of your image

Thank you. In marketing its called the remembrance effect. Whatever one remembers from past times is likely to stick out in their mind when purchasing or doing any other deals or anything upon that matter.

A rider is a product of a team, so it needs to be repped well.

hahaha i didnt even know the Xgames was happening...

i guess I just dont pay attention to it if it doesnt include gnarly ass DH mountainbiking (which is way crazier shit than motocross, because youre going 50 miles per hour through technical ass trees and off cliffs...) or skiing...

Um did you not notice Bilko threw the no handed 360 that he threw in best trick during his freestyle run that won him the Gold. Also many people said that trick should have won the Best Trick gold as well.

Well you got me, I skipped through the freestyle stuff to watch skating. But yes, that should've won him best trick gold.

I know there is a lot of shit going on in this thread. But that edit asian_allen posted totally changed the way i looked at rollerblading. Wow.

its spelled realize, really has two L's, run on sentences... prefrences is spelled preferences...

"How much of an idiot I sound?" try...

"How much of an idiot do I sound?"

let me answer that for you... pretty god damned retarded.

by the way to clear something up. allen is not sponsored because of his creativity in the park, its because of his creativity around a dick. well hey cant hate on a kid who loves something thats as gay as he is.

wait youre thinking of quitting skiing?! no!!!

and to the person that said hes not repping line, youre dumb. michael phelps smoked weed and kelloggs dropped him because it was a bad image for children's cereal...

Spinning opposite is pretty ridiculous on a bike. I mean these guys can do opposite 3's and maybe 5's in quaterpipe flyouts but spinning opposite over a large jump is pretty hard, and it's not really common for riders to even bother learning to spin opposite.

I don't even know why you guys are arguing about the Xgames. They will be dead in 10 years at maximum. They are obsolete. Its a shitshow. Ask any skateboarder that competes in it. As for the skiing rollerblading bitchfest I don't think skiing will follow exactly what rollerblading did. I watched Barely Dead and I wasn't impressed. Skiing will never be as dead as rollerblading is.

the mega ramp with a rail on it its pretty boring because of how hard the rail is almost all of the skaters are doing 50-50s i know its mad hard but it just doesnt look that entertaining

Jew.

i dont follow moto and i was wondering a few weeks ago why they werent throwing 360's yet with all the back flip variations.. i was watching X the other day and i saw that 360 no hander and it was one of the most insane looking tricks i have ever seen.. Craaazy

When compared to other sports, rollerblading is not nearly as popular as it once was. There is no arguement there. And for andy..your telling me a sponsored rider talking shit on people is ok for a companies image? I don't believe how small of a picture people see on NS. It's dealing with KIDS that make ns difficult to read anymore.

Nope. Why would I buy from a company that supports a tool bag that absolutely loves to talk shit on peoples opinions and thoughts. Not the first time I have seen him being a dick.

backside ollie 3. so no grab. over a fucking 70 foot gap. thats insanely hard. to a 5 over 20 feet out. fucking gnarly. and he tried 9s.

dude. i agree with you 99% of the time. and rollerblading is sick. but why are you even attempting to argue that rollerblading is even remotely close to as popular as skateboarding or bmx. its not. thats a fact.

not worth my time anymore. seem to be a person that can't take criticism very well or even admit that they may be the slightest bit wrong.

I was watching big air and the rail jam from the DC suite at Staples, and even the athletes and industry folks watching were admitting that it was stale this year. Problem is, Danny and Bob are the only people that skate mega ramp regularly, so there just aren't enough athletes to keep the tricks fresh. Danny wasn't planning on skating in the rail jam on Friday morning, but he's the ONLY person who has invested a lot of time into mega ramp rail and he didn't think think that the event would progress without him. And unfortunately he was injured and only able to skate switch. But almost all X-Games events are lame in their first few years. Remember ski slopestyle in the early 2000s? You were lucky to see a run without a crash or two.

dude no one in here said that this stuff isnt hard its insane what they do but it just gets boring watching it over and over for years like skiing is always coming out with new tricks that keep people watching besides big air because that was a joke

meh where are you getting this information? Barely Dead documentary? I want to see proof of how they got those statistics in the so called documentary. Rollerblading may get some interest in a few years but it will never be as big as it once was and it will never be as big as skateboarding is. I can't even find a pair of inline skates anywhere but yet I can walk into Walmart and find a skateboard. But I applaud you for supporting what you love.

ahh ok. well then argue on lol. but if i got to see rollerbladers on the mega ramp id be stoked. kang flip on rollerblades? i think so.
