New ways to slide rails?

some skiers have progressed so much with different ways to slide a rail last season. what are some different ways??/

i sometime drop a broken here and there and think im kinda cool, but i was watching andy perry and will wesson kill hippies all over the place at whaleback this weekend, those guys are doing sick shit

heres the grab thats gunna take over jibbing, cuz almost anybody can do it

just sliding on your nuts, one ski on either side of the rail, and just making it steezy

What are cookies and chips??? I've probably seen them but just don't have any name associated with them. Pictures?

There's a pic in freeskier this month of a guy doing a one ski slide on a round rail and then just has the other ski up in the air over the other one. If you get off balance though your chances of reproducing will go to nil.

i really hope skiing doesnt continue this way. i liked how few grinds you could do, it made style more important

It would be so cool if you could come in switch to a box switch, zero on to it and do a nose press the whole way only on ur tips, completely blind the whole time.

Hey, I couldn't figure out a way to get video, but here's a video still pic from his segment. Sorry about the quality.

yea but style can only progress so far. Watch some footy on NS. Its all the same shit. 270 on, switch up, 270 out. plus or minus some rotations. Skiing needs to progress and these new grinds push us in an innovative direction. New tricks can still look stylish. Why don't you hope skiing doesn't loose style and hate on bad style rather then hate on new tricks.

rollerblade grinds are never gonna catch on, they just simply dont work for skiing,  like yeah you can cross your skis on a box but shit that just looks retarded.  it hardly takes any more skill than doing the box normal. its kinda like when you see people hit a 30 footer and do a straight air with a totally rad tweaked mute grab or something cause its a tiny bit  "harder" so it must be better,  and ride away like they are all hardcore.  thats the type of stuff you do when your goofing off and TRYING to be gay, like on gaper day.

shit like presses, taps, crooks, and butters on and off is whats gonna progress on rails,  so far its just been about spinning like crazy, and we have just started to progress with the stuff i mentioned.

and with they way ski designs are changing its gonna make it alot eaiser to do.

been waiting for years,

all manners of fakie nosgrind/5-0 and involved combinations with presses along with salads and such have been doneee thoughhhh,

and i havent really seen them kicking around

that grind isnt even that cool on rollerblades, on skis it would be even worse.  honestly if i saw some skier lift up their ski and grab it like that i would just laugh.  its just so out of place on skis, its one of those things where you can tell you are just trying to do something with no concern for how it actually looks.  like doing as many grabs as tweaked as you can on a straight air, or spinning a 9 on a 5 foot jump thinking your a badass. that type of stuff doesnt work for skiing.  skiing is about being technical, but more than anything, being smooth, cause i think we can all agree that without style, skiing looks pretty horrible. and thats whats so cool about skiing, style is more important in skiing than pretty much any other sport.

What are you talking about, torques are all anyone ever does anymore... and let's not get into this whole debate of why rollerblade grinds shouldn't transfer over to skiing. It's getting old. We get it, all you purists (who possibly skateboard) don't want to see it; gee, I wonder why. However, there are some of us who are getting bored with the current repertoire of trick vocabulary. To each their own.

nope, can't do. I only have the dvd. The clip I'm thinking about isn't in the teaser and that's the only link I could give you.

i accually agree with that, its mad fun to mess around doing different grinds and stuff, but i think its good that its limited

like in ssx when you land upside down on a rail so the tops of your skis are sliding on the rail and your upside down

wtf are you serious, i only think of doing that in my dreams....if anyone has ever seen that link i need it !!!! that would be super intense

there are still tons of tricks to do other than the normal slides, and crazy spins,  sure i guess rollerblade grinds are one of them you can do on gayper day, but there are still so many different variations of presses, crooks, and other stuff.  i was at the us open at copper last year and i was watching all the pros riding through the park just dicking around on their free time, and there was some crazy shit happening,  like i think it might have been andreas, poping a 180 doing a huge nosepress so he was switch then 180 out, and it was a long box too, and all the butters on to press and spin combonations i saw were pretty crazy too.  and its alot more original and creative than just grabbing your ski on the rail,  i thought that fad was gone like 3 years ago.

i dont really have a problem with people doing rollerblade tricks,  personally i think they look completely horrible, but if people want to do them thats fine i guess.  im just saying, its not gonna progress in that direction, mostly because it isnt a skiing trick.  they are pretty much taken straight from rollerblading, while there are plenty of skiing original grinds that are still progressing and popping up, that look much better.
