volkl is working on a new 06' 07' ski, just heard from MC (east coast rep)... here are the specs:

the sumos are only 125 mm, their 5 mm skinnier than the prophets...i think the mantra are the new super fatties, and id almost guarantee they'll have a twinnie on 'em. Volkl is a very forward-thinking ski company, and if theyre dope enough to come up with the Gotama, then i think we'll be set.

I'm sorry, ONLY 125mm? What the fuck? I remember when people were saying the 95mm waist Pistols were TOO fat, and now 125 isn't a big deal? Jeeeesus. Only on Newschoolers.

And Mantras are 84mm at the waist, Dogens are 80, Karmas are 87.

the mantra is supposed to replace the explosive, that's why it doesn;t have a big twin tip, because the original ski didn;t have one at all. if you want a full twin you have to step up to the gotma. mantra is 95mm waist and the gotma is around 108mm.

I was checking out the mantras the other day they are a sweet lookin ski, and as far as this thread goes what length will these skis come in I wonder? I was a little disappointed by the annoucement that sumos will be 176 only

people need to start riding big shit again. I'm now riding my 192 motherships 127/97/117 in the park and it's so much fun, And anything under 110 in the waist for west coast powder is almost too small. Line needs to make a 190cm ski at 150/125/140 or something comparable

^The difference between 186 and 190 is negligible, and sidecut is not good in powder. The Prophet is about as pow specific as it gets.

Realgomer, when did I say the pistol was too fat? I ride Jp vs Juliens. I'm saying, when the SP first came out, people were freaking out over how fat it was... now you've got people saying "Oh, yeah, well the sumo's only 125mm" and "Anything under 110 is too thin". That's ridiculous. Anything over 90mm is sufficient to ski anywhere. A 110 waist might be useful on some days especially up here in the NW, but to say it's a minumum is just stupidity.

I don't think he was talking about me... just that people who are against fat skis these days must suck since everyone uses them. I'm not sure how that logic works, exactly, but whatever.

Volkl skis fit my style of riding perfectly, i'll never buy another pair of sticks so long as they keep up their superior quality. I'm in the market to buy some Karmas

135 125 118 sounds sick for big mountain, although given the dimensions the sound like theyare gonna have no sidecut or reverse sidecut. no switch either

I rode my Scratch FSs in the pow at Monashee Powder Guides and did just fine. Landed switch and everything.
