New Video Format

At least it’s new to me because I’ve never seen it before. Strictly just released their 2nd film out of their 3 I believe called Wildcard. I’m not sure what the third one is called or what it will be called but Wildcards a pow cut, and MG is a street cut. I definitely enjoy watching street more than pow, so sometimes it’s a little hard to watch films that have it all. Factions new movie Roots had 0 urban, like okay whatever you know, but the pow segs from the film were super hard to sit through and quite frankly boring for me (that doesn’t take away from the skiing/filming it’s just not my cup of tea sometimes). So it would’ve been cool for me personally if faction split it into a free-ride backcountry film and a more freestyle heavy park film. Back to strictly, like I said I’m not a huge fan of watching pow but with strictly specifically ive really enjoyed it. This thread is kinda spawning from last night when I watched Bermuda for the millionth time because I genuinely enjoy every single segment in it. This year though they split it up and I feel like strictly is a personal exception to mixed films because I enjoy everything they do. But im wondering if you guys would like to see more crews do this or continue this. I guess it really depends on the crew for me like faction id like them to split it up. Idk, just a thought what do you guys think. Also would be cool to hear a crews opinion, do they like really targeting several specific audiences or is it more fun to have it all?

Also throwing this in- if I was in a crew I’d wanna make one big movie. Even tho that’s not always what I prefer to watch. I think people will watch regardless so crews should make them more so for themselves not others

No real opinion about splitting segments into different movies but holy shit Most Gutter is so fucking sick and so fucking creative it puts every other ski production company to shame. How the fuck does Salomon, faction, matchstick have 100x the budget and 1% of the creativity and style of Strictly?

A lot of it is the filming too, me and a homie were talking about the crazy shit Gavin does like those going in a circle shots while flipping through photos, stuff like that really makes a sick video. I think he’s super under appreciated

i’m gonna attempt to make a new wave pow edit and see if it’s not boring as hell

we split the projects up this year because i needed some space, but also so that we could all really dive into our own creative ideas without stepping on each others' toes. i was doing pretty rough mentally by the end of filming bermuda and thought that changing up some stuff might help me grow. i also always felt like i wanted to get fairly experimental with certain things and i couldn't do that in a traditional ski movie format divided into rider segments without making the boys upset in reorganizing the structure and scattering their segments. but i didn't want to be divisive and break everyone in the crew up, the idea was to work on these smaller projects to support each others' stuff and release it all through strictly. we've been and are all close friends. it was an awesome opportunity for the boys to take responsibility over their project, most gutter was filmed entirely by that crew, mostly sam and calvin, as well as our homie jack who went on a trip with them. they edited it with the help of andrew. and andrew was the creative force behind wildcard. by choice, we didn't see any of each others' movies or clips until the day before our premiere two months ago.

next year strictly is doing the whole ski movie again with the full crew. i'm not sure what my role in that is going to be with this next project quite yet, i've just got some of my own personal shit to sort through. but you can definitely look forward to the full movie blowout again.

That was super informative and good luck on the personal shit you’re working on
