New trend in skiing

So I have been, I don't know "newschool" skiing for five years now I think and this season I have noticed a new trend. I ski up to the small east coast park set up at my local mountain and see a bouquet of colours and relatively nice and expensive ski equipment. I think to myself alright skiing has blown up at this mountain cool, but, then the truth comes out. After hiking for about an hour I quickly realize no one is actually hitting anything except a select few dudes. I feel like a troll saying this but this happened to skateboarding and snowboarding. People that enjoy sitting in the park, looking dope, almost getting landed on, blocking run-ins, and never trying tricks. For those who know what I'm talking about I think this new trend of people is called "posers"

But there's a difference between kids who dress cool and actually go for things ( rails, 270s on /off and whatnot) compared to kids who have XXL Matching First Drop pants and Jackets with brand new Full Tilts who stand in front of flat boxes and just troll. Hard

Exactly. And i wont lie i am not the best park skier but, at least i wait my turn and go for things and not give a fuck what kids in there 6XL Jiberish think of me.

the other day I was hiking a rail and I noticed a group of 4 snowboarders were sitting at the drop in for the rail I was hiking. I was like alright the more the merrier...I was wrong they sat their for fucking at least 20 minutes just talking....and when they finally got up only one of them actually did the rail, shit blows my mind

In quebec before the helmet law these people used to be hot teenage girls.

It was so weird... there would be just literally droves of young girls hanging out around the rails watching the guys slay it.

It was totally bizarre.

just fantasized about flowing through a park bowling over squealing 13 year old girls left and right

weirdest boner

today i saw a kid with a lohi hoody.. and i was like oh man this is one of the gangster park city kids who kills it.. then he slid out on a ride on box.

its full of these at my moutain, they always cut us just before the rails or shit , when this happens i wish i could get out 10 mac 10's...

All of the girls at my hill have some like punk/emo style.

at my mountain, there are kids with nice stuff (line hoodies, full tilts, new skis, etc) but a lot of them actually try stuff. i mean they're not stomping bangers on bangers, but they're trying and i can respect that. if i see someone like totally decked out in stuff who won't even touch a feature, i mean it's kind of lame but whatever, not going to let that itch on my conscience and take away from my fun.

I really don't think about what I'm wearing when I ski. Because my wardrobe should not have to affect the way people THINK i ski you know? Its not a damn fashion show, SERIOUSLY.

ive never really noticed this to be quite honest. maybe thats because there are two parks where i ski and all the so called "posers" go to the smaller one.

and another thing OP, i bought a new pair of full tilts yesterday, and you made me feel bad in your post D:

i honestly tried on other stuff and it was the best i tried on for a while, i love them!

I HATE FULL TILT

oh my, thats a huge mistake sorry, my internet connection. not the best

i dont hate full ttilt though i love their product so far

What bothers me is how mainstream Saga is now. I get that people like it and it's awesome to see a smaller company make it big, but when you see every other kid wearing it, it seems a bit overused. The only thing that bothers me more is when said posers are wearing Saga and only lap the dance floor. I agree with this thread 100%.

saw a kid wearing shmedium saga with full tilts... he had straight skis and couldnt even ride onto one of the boxes... i don't think he knew that those brands were freeskiing oriented at all. it still kind of made me mad.

There is so many kids at the mountain I go to that are posers. Buying jiberish and saga and not even attemting to hit a rail and troll through the park. It is really annoying

This happened To my mountain when I was like 8. But then it went away....I would guess they all went to college. But now I see it coming back in my age group. One of the kids that go to my school cut me off when I was going to do a 270 on 270 off and I ripped him a new one when I got to the bottom. Also there are like 6yr olds wearinG long t's who think they are the shit for goin straight on a 5ft wide butter box and talk shit. I think I am going to switch to the smaller mountain just to get away from them.

i remember going into the park when there was no skiers and all the boarders sitting at the top of the park forever.

now the boarders sit at the top while the skiers lap their asses.

No joke I once saw a bunch of snowboarders sitting at the top of the park, so I rode down, rode up the lift, and at the top of the park the same group of knuckledraggers were chilling there. I had lapped them.

does anyone realize that some of these people are the people who give our sport the cash it needs to survive

also, op i have a full saga suit and fulltilts and can only do 270's 360's and the occasional backflip but i can destroy backcountry, does this make u mad when im in the park just bumming around hitting only a few things

there are still some, but they wear helmets...

And yeah, so many posers just watching. People are afraid of trying new things in front of others...

I like to rock a low profile look.. I wear a large Burton team fit jacket, so people expect nothing of me.. But when I go and hit all the features its funny to see the kids in saga who don't hit anything cover there logo a little...
