NEW TRAIL AT Ski Sundown

hi everyone.

we're part way into cutting a new trail at the mountain.

it's called, Satan’s Stairway, located between the lifts. It is a steeper, more consistent pitch than Gunny with a classic New England cut. It will give you a great vantage point of a true ripper of a run.

Increasing skiable terrain does a few things for the mountain. It obviously allows for bragging rights and provids a mogul skiing venue the likes that are unavailable south of Vermont AND we can keep Nor’ Easter groomed for corduroy skiing and snowboarding.

It’s not enough to cut down some wood and sit back. The land has been graded to allow for EARLY SEASON OPENING. We’re beyond confident in our ability to make snow on it, we’re looking forward to it! The full power of Ski Sundown snow making awesomeness will bury this trail just as you’d expect from us.

Full lighting from day 1. boom

Pay special attention to the mountain social media channels this fall. We’re stoked. We’re installing pipe, maintaining grass, adding lighting and gearing up for our most awesome opening of a winter season to date.

Thank you to everyone loyal skiers and riders and especially pass holders who’ve invested their hard earned recreation time in us. Thank you to every family who has raised their kids here at Ski Sundown. We are beyond stoked to update and improve. You guys are why we are here.

sounds sick, this would run right into the park wouldn't it? Mogul runs and park laps in one run would be awesome, even more reason for me to go to sundown some time.

it will. we're gonna have fun incorporating this new intersection with Stinger. Its been my experience that mogul people and park people blend fairly well. i think if the features that go on that side of the trail are well placed, we'll see plenty of cross over. I really would like to see our park skiers and riders round out there abilities and ski some more challenging terrain and become more dynamic in their turns... maybe that's just the ski school director mentality coming out... but what i do know, is that this project has lit a fire under everyones ass around here. we are all super charged for this coming winter.

any and all ideas are welcome to be heard. draw stuff up, post it, tag ski sundown.

I'm confused about how it can be steeper than gunny. Isn't the fall line pretty similar across the whole place?

Nope, it changes between gunny and lift 2. Think about how much harder it is to walk down the lift line than it is to walk down gunny. This new trail is definitely VERY steep and will easily be the most difficult trail on the mountain (and the most fun on powder days).

hah yeah for sure, it's just tough because i always head back around christmas and typically it's not worth it to buy a day ticket that early in the winter. plus baggage fees, etc. really depends on the time and weather
