New to skiing need some tips

I am a snowboarder and im trying to convert top skiing. im gonna buy used, looking for about a 200 dollar deal on skis and bindings package then new boots. but are there different kinds of bindings? what size skis do i need?(im 5'9") anything else i should know?

Hi Captn Steeze, for just getting into skiing you sure knew how to pick a good username.

You should be able to score a decent used ski+binding setup for 200 bones if you look in the right places. Several companies have price-point park skis, you might look for the K2 Silencer, Line Afterbang, Atomics... or yeah, anything used.

There are a bajillion different kinds of bindings. If you're new to skiing, it doesn't matter too much what you get. The most important thing is how high the DIN setting goes, which means how much force the binding can handle. If you're over 180lbs then you definitely want a binding that's 10 DIN or more.

Regarding length of ski: depends on how you want to ride. Generally a shorter ski is better to learn on, and also easier to handle in the park. A longer ski is better for more control at higher speed. If you're 5'9" and just learning to ski I would recommend a ski between 160 and 170cm.

cheers for the tips, and im like 160 lbs.

ya i lookin for not to pricy setup mainly because its near end of the season and money is low, if you know of any good deal just give me a link to follow
