ok i am pretty new to skiing the park and i want to know how to grind and if grinding one of those rails that is one big tube its like a 6 inch diameter is a good rail to learn on

I think you're refering to a Mailbox, and i would suggest you find a flat bar or a box to learn on instead, but the mailbox is fine too.

mailboxes are dedly first try, don't try it! you'll like, slip and land on your back, and be scared for the rest of your life

yeah man hit boxes or flat bars first up - then progress to the sorta thing you are talking about..theres too many consequences to mailboxes.

keep your shoulders over your knees, square your shoulders. weight even..confiednece, pop, not a lot of speed... ect ect ect

hit the rails with the ez slide thing on them, they dont hurt wen u fall on them

or a box, thats the same thing i guess

with your first rails, almost try to lean really really far forward and try to catch your edge, cause you wont, but atleast it will keep you from leaning really far back. or try to keep all you weight on your front foot, and none on your back, and picture yourself doing a perfect rail.

yeah thats another thing, pop, turn totally 90 and kinda stomp on the rail. people when they are learning tend to get on by getting no air and spinning a little on the jump or on the rail. or if they do jump on they try to gently tap the rail as they get on with there legs really close together. just pop turn totally 90 with your legs far apart, and stomp on kinda. its all about commiting.

you just do it...approach it so the rail appears to be infront of you inbetween your legs and hop on 90. try to keep balance and there you go

go to the video section in media. there are some really good guys to watch in there. also look for lil' john's edit in the search bad and even take a look at the christmas edit above (actually below when i click reply). Make sure you watch the legs as well as the upper body. Notice how they keep their eyes on the end of the rail the whole time.

That's a really important point and you should make a mental note of that, it helps so much for straight sliding longer rails and your first tries on rails.

wow. im impressed. this is the only guy who has bashed him so far

yeah id start on a flat box or flat rail. Pop 90 on to the rail. Look at the end of the rail, but just turn your head to look. Keep your shoulders parallel with the rail. If u tunr your head and shoulders to look at thed end, then ull slowly rotate off the rail. and put more weight on your front foot. wide, low stance lowers your center of mass and incresaes your base of support, so ur more stable

i pulled off my first grind on a small funbox a few days ago. I just jumped, turned 90 and grinded the box and jumped off. It felt nice. Then i tried like a 15 foot, 6-inch rail, which was way out of my skill league. I got onto the rail for like maybe a second or two, then with my inexperience i felt hard hitting my arms on the rail. Got up and kept going
