New to freestyle skiing

hey everybody, i'm new here. i skied until i was 9 then switched to snowboarding and have been doing that since, i'm 17 now. i went to park city for spring break this year and really got interested in freestyle skiing after watching all those skiers. In virginia theres almost no freestyle skiers. and i decided i wanted to try skiing again. so i'm lookin for some rossignol scratches. i hope i can pick it up again easily and hit the park. it should be used to it from snowboarding, i can do 5s so i'll just get used to the skis and try some stuff. so if you guys have any advise or anything, it would help. thanks.

 
congrats for switching... scratches were/are my first twins. They're great for everything and they're cheap, good choice

first of all, welcom to the dark side, secondly, spend some time on ur skis just cruising and remembering how to ski if u go right into the tricks u'll never have any style ever and all the girls will laugh at u

haha yeah i'm not goin straight to the park cuz i'll look like an idiot and probly hurt myself. i just dont know how long it'll take to be good enough to get used to the skis.

 
all newbies look like idiots. eventually your gonna have to get over it and just go out and throw down. ^ but hes right ski first.

my friend tried to learn how to jump before he knew how to ski, the dumbass went balls to the walls, hit a 30 foot table-huge for a newb-and his skis popped off at the lip and he went flying and then took a nap

and they say skiing isnt marketable, this is not the first person i have heard that cahnged to snowboarding and is now changing back, my snowboard friends say skiing is sick and they would love to be good at it. i think the just pure sickness markets itself.

ive got another version of the pole dangle, its pretty funny too, gets cold when i do it on the lift tho.

yeah i think snowboarding is becoming too popular. like when i started it was sweet back in '98 because nobody did it, but now in Virginia there's no freestyle skiers and all these noobs on snowboards.

 
yah my friend also just switched back to skiing, its so weird cuz im always looking for him cuz i don't recognize him on skis

its leik the reverse trend setters in the 80's, since snowboarding is the "cool" thing to do now, our select group has defied the monster and gone with a more cool (in our oppinion) sport, that nobody does, and made it the new cool thing that ppl wish they did

the funny thing is that both sports are the SAME!

any great skier can learn to board in a few minutes and any great boarder can learn to ski in a few minutes...

i think people who feel rivarly between boarder and skiers are clueless...this especially applies to snowboarders who look at skier like a frat boy scoping out some nerd.

 
yep its definitly gonna be wierd, and i'm not gonna give up on snowboarding, i just wanna get good at both. this weekend is the last weekend my resort is open and the snow sucks so i'm gonna rent some sweet skis and see much i remember haha, but i know like one of the only good freestyle skiers at my resort and he's gonna teach me some stuff next year.

 
ya wats with divisoin? there practically the same sport...i think we should eventually have mix contest....had a few this year at my mountain
