i just got a new tattoo on calf today, i'm pretty sure a little bit of the line will be in my ski boot as well as some of the lettering ..... has anyone had any experience with this ? the guy said wait for 2 to 3 weeks ........ i just don't think that gonna happen ... maybe 2 to 3 days ? any input would be GREATLY appreciated !

I would definately wait for your tattoo to go through the initial ointment phase, and then all the way through its flaking phase. I've seen what can happen when areas of new tattoos get chaffed and I've seen what can happen if they get sweaty. That thing will be there your whole life. Don't fuck it up by putting it in a ski boot til its healed...

^sadly he's right. i got tats on both ankles and just had to wait it out - i live in a ski town and the dude had seen some messy shit happen to people who didnt wait at least the 2 weeks for the scabs to peel. as he says, thats gunna be there for life, dont fuck it up for the sake of ten days.

and a lesson to everyone, if ur getting tats, timing is key - you cant swim, u cant hot tub, u cant wakeboard, u cant surf and if theyre on your lower legs, u prob cant ski for a bit.

These guys are spot on. 2 weeks skiing isn't worth 50 years of a shit tat. Take extra good care of your tat and you'll thank yourself later.

did you not even consider it might be a problem? if skiing was important to you, you would have waited until spring......

if you cant tell its the outline of PA and says home is where the heart is

don't rip it apart too much

the reason i got it now was because my brother was in from school and we wanted to get tattoos together..

a friend of mine got one on her foot in may, and after the initial ointement and flaking shit, she went to NZ and skied every day. Also skied almost every day since the mountains opened here in SLC. I don't think she's had any problems.

if your artist says to wait 2-3 weeks before doing exercise, there is a reason for it. you risk infection, which can be major, irritation, and completely destroying your tattoo.

Treat your tattoo the same as you would treat an open wound. Just keep it moist and out of anything that could cause infection (ie boot, spa, pool) and always make sure to wash it. Not only to I know this because I have 4 tattoos myself (half sleeve, right arm and then rib cages), but also I have seen a few tattoo related infections since I'm in the medical field.

Don't put your ski boot on until your tattoo has FULLY healed. Just don't. My friend got a tattoo with me and he went skiing the next day and I did not.... his literally rubbed half off and faded. The healing/scabbing skin gets rubbed off. Dont do it.
