i'm torn on the slim-fit.
pros: makes skiers look like skiers. it seems like if we're ever going to have our own identity and not just recycle whatever snowboarders were doing a year or two ago, we should go back to the soul of freestyle skiing and revive some hot dog steeze. most of the skiers on this site probably don't remember when a 360 was called a helicopter. imagine a penciled out 360 in baggy clothes . . . you would barely recognize it as a helicopter. the slim-fit reminds me of what skiing used to look like before the influence of snowboarding.
cons: makes skiers look too much like skiers. can you imagine mickel's segment in exact science with slim-fit clothes? skiers are handicapped in terms of style by all of the moving parts we have to control. loose clothes mute some of the noise and make skiing look better. when snowboarding had its hessian reaction to the yo phase, people like scotty whitlake could wear wranglers without running into the same problem because their legs aren't free to move. some of the joystick guys pull it off, but i think it comes at a cost, even for them. the first segment with tight clothes that i can remember is anthony boronowski in happy days. he pulled it off, but when he did things like hopping off one foot to get onto a ledge, it looked worse because of his pants.
