So this is the jist of what i am gonna pait my fs's next season, how would i go about doing this? sanding the topsheet, number of coats, not sanding the monster thing so it keeps its color, and what sort of protectant would i put as the last layer to protect and waterproof that shit? i am new to the painting skis world and i hear that the scratches have a rubbe topsheet so will it be differnt?

youd have to put a primer of some sort on it to keep from paint scratching off easily, i did it without it and it scraped off easily.

|skiing = life|/

thats a sweet idea...for waterproofing you might wanna check into gettin some scotch guard, you can buy it in a spray form to spray on your pants and jacket to keep them waterproof, but i dont know if it would work on skis too

if it were easy it would be called snowboarding - K2

i just spray painted my skis. i didnt sand anything off the topsheet. just cover the monster thing with some tape and cut out around it and paint the rest of the ski black. my friend did the same exact thing to his PE's with car paint it looks sick and it doesnt come off. just use a couple of coats.

I didnt go to college and check me out im kick ass

yea it is going to be different to paint the scratches since the topsheet is made out of a rubbery material.

actually, the rubbertopsheets (non-glossy) from a few years ago, those hold paint very well

sit booboo sit. Good dog.

Ok so the rubber top sheet of the scratches holds well, so i should just spraypaint a couple coats and cover up the monster silouhete? thats sounds like what i will do but what if it doesn't work, will it fuck up my ski? and how much weight will it add to the ski?

Make sure you primer the area first like someone else said. Use a similar primer color as your coat color. After you're done use some clear protectant as your last couple of coatings. I heard lacquer works well and that Burton uses it to protect their topsheet graphics. That's what I heard anyway. And about the weight. It can't possibly add too much. Not much more than a doo rag or MP3 player add to your weight. Good luck.

I've got the rubber topsheet with the woman on, and i masked out the red section and painted the woman black, political correctness and all that. Anyway yeh the rubber surface holds up well, but i find i can touch up any parts i've chipped with a permanent marker. I'll try and upload a photo of my skis soon.

so you just use spray paint? if i wanted to paint all of my ski, would i use regular all-purpose paint?

if it were easy it would be called snowboarding - K2

i dont know man the paint i bought was from wall mart and it worked great, but it does eventually chip off so a couple of coats should make them perfect
