New Snow Accumulation Record at Alpine Meadows

Alpine Meadows has received a total of 194.5” of snow at its base lodge and 272.3” of snow at its mid-mountain snow stake so far this March. March of 2006 is now the official all-time record holder for the most snow accumulation in the span of one month. The resort has been tracking snow accumulation by month for the past 35 years.

The previous record-holding snow accumulation month was March of 1991, (commonly referred to as “Miracle March”) with a total of 188” at the base lodge.

More significant accumulation is forecasted for the last few days of this March. Final snow accumulation totals will be posted.

 
you know what, i'm claiming it, i'm over soul skiing, i want to bag my goggles, pants and jacket, put a snarl on my face, some aluminum foil on my teefs and roll through the park like the thug I am on a sunny day, is this to much to axe and yes i know i'm complaining about what I was complaining about not having two months ago, but i really enjoy complaining so yeah, but spring skiing should be off da hook fo realz if spring ever comes around!
 
mackdawg the report has snow all across the board, keep you're pow sticks out. Maybe next weekend we'll get some of that vitamin D, hurd?
 
^ I'm wit you mack...i had my park skis on yesterday to get some practice for the shop battle and i HAD to ski pow for 2 hours while they cleaned out the park. on centermounted moships (they actually killed it too). I'm ready for some slush and sun.
 
not true kimmy, Tahoe resorts will close by the end of may or earlier ragardless of how much snow. They either run out of time on thier land leases or they simply will not be able to afford to continue operation. Even though I am ready for a little sunshine, this weekend looks to be pretty sick in terms of powder. 2 feet above 7000 and a foot at lake level.
 
2 more feet by saturday and another big storm on monday. Oh well, just more snow to put on those landings. The bottom Nicks jump is done and we measured it at 77' feet. Today might have been the only day to hit it for a while. Guess you better go hit a pow jump and practice for the real thing. You don't want to blow a trick on that monster.
 
27 accummulated days skiing this year so far..and I'd say at least 80% of them were days where it was snowing or it was a pow day.

I'm actually sort of sick of all this snow falling.

I enjoy that it prolongs our season and we are getting lots of good snow..but I really just want a nice sunny spring skiing day soon.
